Driving success at the Fire Service College as a Fire Safety Tutor

We are looking for skilled FSTs from across the country to come and join our team

The Fire Service College is looking to build a Team of Fire Safety instructors to support the growing pipeline of training delivery for our customers.  Our Team of Fire Safety Instructors have extensive experience in fire safety management, fire risk assessment, auditing and regulation, enabling them to bring up-to-date experience into their teaching.

The College offers the Skills for Justice Level 3 and Level 4 Certificate / Diploma in Fire Safety.  It also offers a range of courses in Fire Safety focused on Healthcare settings, Fire Investigation and Risk Audits.  Being part of our professional and enthusiastic team, you will strive to provide market leading training and the highest levels of learner engagement.

Acting as a learning champion, you will deliver inspiring and engaging teaching, whilst creating a positive lasting impression, delivering unrivalled professional tuition.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivery of Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5 Fire Safety related programmes to a range of customers including Fire and Rescue Services, the Public Sector and Private Sector clients.

  • Facilitation of virtual course delivery to maximise engagement and to provide a dynamic and innovative learning experience.

  • Marking delegate assignments in a timely manner, providing constructive feedback and additional support where this is required.

  • Developing lesson plans, assessment plans, varied learning materials and other related materials to provide a engaging learning experience that blends theoretical knowledge with real-life scenarios.

  • Providing coaching and mentoring to delegates to ensure they achieve their maximum potential on the courses being undertaken.

  • Liaising with customers for the development of bespoke training courses that meet their needs and delivers clear learning outcomes.

What we’re looking for:

  • A proven track record of working within a Regulator’s Fire Safety Department (e.g. FRS, MOD, Local Authority).

  • Must have previous experience as a Firefighter

  • A minimum of a level 3 initial teaching qualification (PTLLS or AET), equivalent or higher.

  • Demonstrable ability to prepare lesson plans and learning delivery support materials that articulate learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

  • Fire Safety Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience of prevention and detection of fire in domestic, commercial and industrial premises.

  • Detailed knowledge of the following Approved Document B, BS9999 and other relevant standards
