The primary responsibilities and essential functions of this position include:
Member of the LGM-NA process technology team with the responsibility to improve slitter reliability and implement process improvement projects in our NA distribution centers.
Design, evaluate and modify mechanical devices or systems to continuously improve equipment operation.
Perform developmental and/or test work which requires a comprehensive knowledge of the finishing process and best practices in finishing.
Develop projects from concept to finished state while maintaining timelines and budgets.
Support the development of technical specifications.
Analyze, develop and recommend design improvements necessary to meet production requirements for new or existing processes.
Develop and implement technical maintenance and operator training.
Represent the organization as a technical contact on contracts and projects, and interact with internal and external personnel.
Strong background in industrial electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Ability to travel approximiately 80% of time both domestic and international.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred
Minimum 5 years experience in industrial manufacturing environments.
Project management experience with the ability to lead multiple projects varying in scope and complexity.
Strong ability to troubleshoot equipment/process issues.
Applies extensive finishing expertise, and has full knowledge of other related functional areas in our coating plants and finishing centers in order to help drive improvement.
Self-motivated with a continuous improvement focus.
Ability to read mechanical blueprints, drawings and technical manuals.
Knowledge of machining practices with relation to mills, lathes and other machine shop equipment.
Possesses good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Experience with mechanical systems.
Knowledge in mechanical drafting documentation principles.
Ability to interface effectively with cross-functional teams to define and execute process improvements and projects.
Additional Competencies Preferred:
Ability to use AutoCAD. Develop and update drawings, including P&IDs and PFDs.
Working knowledge and experience with Six Sigma and ELS principles preferred.
Ability to use mig and tig welding systems along with Oxygen acetylene torch and plasma cutters.
Capital equipment purchasing experience preferred.
Slitting process knowledge preferred.
