Financial Control Division (FCD) is a division within the Chief Financial & Operating Officer’s (CFOO) Group.
FCD is responsible for ensuring that proper financial control processes are in place and to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the financial statements and other published financial information, in order to satisfy the Accounting Officer’s responsibility with regard to regularity and propriety of UK Export Finance’s dealings.
The key responsibility for the Financial Reporting Manager is to produce UKEF’s Annual Accounts / Financial Statements for the Annual Report and Accounts as well as providing financial accounting and reporting guidance in support of business activities (NB: responsibility for the production of the Annual Report sits with UKEF’s Marketing and Communications Division).
The Financial Reporting Manager will be required to analyse and report on financial reporting information and communicate this to various stakeholders including to non-specialist Managers and Senior Management.
The role is also responsible for the co-ordination and organisation of the audit of the Annual Report and Accounts with the external auditors.
The Financial Reporting Manager will have an SEO, Financial Reporting Accountant, as support. Depending on the circumstances, another SEO may be appointed for the busy period.
The Financial Reporting Manager will support and develop the team in order to provide resilience and reduce pressure at key times within the timetable.
The Financial Reporting Manager will demonstrate leadership, management and decision-making skills which promote the work of UKEF.
To succeed, the Financial Reporting Manager will be a high performing, fully qualified accountant, ideally with central government accounts production experience and a proven ability to deliver to challenging timetables. The Financial Reporting Manager will be forward thinking, able to understand and interpret accounting standards and assess the impact of their application, analyse financial data, and communicate and present information to suit the needs of the user (all in a UKEF and central government context).
The Financial Reporting Manager will be a results-driven, a self-starter and ambitious team player who is able to work at a fast pace in a pressurised environment, have excellent attention to detail and the ability to build productive working relationships at all levels.
The Financial Reporting Manager will also possess strong IT skills (in particular Excel), the ability to work to and meet tight deadlines in a complex business, and the ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced role as the organisation goes through a period of rapid change.
• Leading on the planning and production of the FReM and IFRS-compliant Annual Accounts (collaborating with UKEF’s Marketing and Communication Division on the Annual Report production), the dry run accounts and the Whole of Government Accounts to agreed timetables.
• Providing support, guidance and input to the Audit Committee, Credit Committee and Executive Committee in connection with year-end including the production of key year-end papers. Working closely with all stakeholders including the external auditors, HM Treasury and internal stakeholders to an agreed timetable.
• Leading on engagement with external auditors, building and maintaining effective working relationships on behalf of UKEF. This includes, coordinating, directing, planning, responding to audit queries and agreeing on technical accounting treatments.

• To meet the National Security Vetting requirements for this role you will need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 out of the past 5 years. If you do not meet this requirement, you would not be eligible for SC clearance and therefore not eligible to apply for this role.
