Job Description

As part of Citi’s Finance Transformation team, the Planning Initiative is responsible for implementing a defined, integrated, agile, well-controlled, and governed end-to-end integrated forecasting approach that drives effective decision making, informs effective management of the firm’s resources, supports our firm wide culture and strategic priorities, and is fully integrated with strategic risk appetite, risk processes, and capital planning. The Planning Initiative team will focus on building Core Forecasting processes to enable central decision making and advancing the existing forecasting capabilities through automation, improved governance and enhanced controls. The team's activities are focused on all scenarios across the stress continuum, ranging from business as usual business planning to stress environments, including CCAR/DFAST, Recovery and Resolution.  Our capabilities include forecasting balance sheet, P&L, capital capacity and ratios and related measures, such as Risk-Weighted Assets; coordinating associated regulatory submissions; and improving the systems and processes used to perform these activities.

This Data Management and Analysis role offers the prospective candidate exposure to various facets of Risk and Finance processes and provide the opportunity to improve problem solving, project management and communication skills while collaborating across teams and developing product knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in strategic efforts including Consent Order milestone deliverables, development of strategic forecasting data processes and system functionality. Execute on processes required for Citi Data Governance Policy (CDGP) compliance.

  • Specific deliverables include identification, validation, documentation and management of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) used as data inputs for CCAR and Business Planning models used for forecasting,  mapping CDE inventory to current state sources, evaluating target state data sourcing options, working with model owners to implement selected data sourcing solutions.

  • Collaborate with the wider Finance Data, Treasury, FP&A and Risk teams to identify data quality issues, perform root cause analysis and partner with data providers to develop and execute remediation plans

  • Lead the analysis and development of both tactical and strategic remediation plans to address data quality issues

  • Participate in governance forums to review and prioritize issues and identify resources to participate in resolution. Lead effort to investigate root causes and execute resolution plans. Write action plans and minutes and manage project plan and status reporting. Escalate potential roadblocks to milestone delivery schedule.

  • Participate in the development and execution of the process to proactively review data monthly.  Monitor breaks on key CDEs and identify and implement enhanced controls. Escalate issues for follow up.

  • Assess data controls effectiveness measurements and metrics as defined by the enterprise/ finance data initiative and define plan for adoption/implementation including definition of thresholds.

  • Work with Technology to develop reports and tools to enable process including enhanced DQ and business rules, UI views and reports, system infrastructure re-design and to shift appropriate adjustments upstream where possible.

  • Participate in the development and production of metrics to evaluate and dimension data quality issues.

  • Participate in all facets of the end-to-end data management process to ensure accurate data for Citi's forecasting processes.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in Financial Services required. Background in Finance, Risk or Operations and product knowledge.  Knowledge of Citigroup processes and systems is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s/University degree in a technical or business field. Advanced degree a plus

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail. Willingness to ask questions and the ability to quickly grasp and master new concepts, requirements and related product and process knowledge.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to facilitate discussions and collaborate with participants across the end-to-end process.

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative and follow through until resolution.

  • Willingness to be flexible and creative.  As the team and processes are established activities and priorities will evolve.

  • Advanced MS Office skills; Excel, Access, Project, Visio, Power Point, Word
