NCA officers work at the forefront of law enforcement, building the best possible intelligence picture of serious and organised crime threats; relentlessly pursuing the most serious and dangerous offenders; and developing and delivering specialist capabilities on behalf of law enforcement.

As a member of the finance team you will be supporting the agency in protecting the public from serious and organised crime. We are looking for finance professionals to take on roles in Finance Business Partnering and Finance Control.

Job description

Our Finance Business Partners work closely with teams across the agency creating a real and active partnership between Commands and the central finance function. They lead on budget advice, reporting and monitoring to senior Business Area leads for delegated budgets and add value to and influence business case led investment appraisals. Our Finance Business Partners help Commands to optimise resources, achieve performance and budgetary targets and deliver challenging financial savings and efficiency targets aligned to in-year and future year financial business plans. Finance Business Partners also contribute to and support the work of the Financial Control Team to deliver first class financial audits of the agency.

In Financial Control you will advise management across the business up to board level, on all aspects of the day-to-day financial control within the NCA, providing them with expert financial advice and insight.

The role also oversees the maintenance and development of the NCA Financial Applications including training and awareness for users and all elements of transactional reporting.

Officers may be required to travel to sites/meetings throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities:

• Manage a team within Finance Business Partnering or Financial control, supporting the business through policy development, planning, performance, service delivery and governance.

• Support senior management in the delivery of an effective and efficient departmental service deputising where appropriate.

• Provide advice, both written and oral, to non-financial staff, including seniors up to Board level, on all aspects of your team’s work.

• Manage projects, resources, programmes, planning activity to ensure work is completed within agreed timescales/budgets and quality standards, in line with NCA policy.

• Develop and build internal and external partner relations working collaboratively to foster good relations.

• Contribute to the long term financial planning and strategy of the Agency.

• Work with government departments and attend working groups, government committees/meetings (as required).

• Manage the quality, secure handling and dissemination of data/information and develop policy, reports and procedures and manage data systems across business areas.

• Manage the quality of service delivery, business and supplier performance, to ensure continuous improvement in service standards (as required).

• Manage the design, development, planning and delivery of training products to meet learning requirements (as required)

• Manage issues relating to the performance and conduct of officers in line with the NCA values.

• To manage/coach and develop staff

Qualifications

The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:

- At least Part Qualified and working towards full professional accountancy qualification, i.e. CCAB.

Note: Part Qualified is defined as having completed the ‘intermediary’ stages of a Chartered qualification, which will usually be roughly one year’s study away from completion.

  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills, and the ability to develop financial models.
