Supporting TfL to deliver exceptional services
At Transport for London (TfL), we’re building a better London. From the London Underground to the road network, cycle superhighways to the new Elizabeth Line, we don’t just keep the capital moving, we help to shape its growth and evolution.
We are looking for Finance professionals who want to make decisions and be part of a team that’s driving the agenda of regaining sustainability at TfL.
The Challenge
Acting as a key member of our finance team, you’ll provide comprehensive financial support to decision makers and budget holders. You’ll make sure that our staff have the information, support and insight they need to provide an excellent service and identify risks and opportunities. Working collaboratively with teams from across the organisation, you’ll be responsible for providing them with the key reporting and analysis of business performance that allows them to make both short and long term plans. In this role you’ll need to be able to help people look at things differently, encourage them to question their priorities, and have open and honest conversations that change behaviours and result in positive solutions. And of course you’ll carry out standard period end activities, budgeting, forecasting, and create financial reports giving clear and insightful analysis and messaging on performance, risks and opportunities. You will also ensure that the organisation adheres to all the correct financial policies and protocols.
The Person
Naturally you’ll be highly numerate and have a real passion for finance, and for achieving your goals. You’ll be eager to immerse yourself in the business and go out and connect with colleagues and wider teams. Strong communication skills are a key part of this role – not only will you have to explain financial information and help others to interpret it, you’ll also need to be able to challenge ideas and practices in a professional manner, and persuade others to adopt new attitudes and ways of working. You’ll be great problem solver who can cope with work in a fast-paced environment – and you’ll have plenty of experience delivering key management accounting services to a high standard whilst meeting budget and time constraints. It would also be brilliant if you were qualified or part-qualified with a CCAB member organisation, though it’s not essential for this role.
The Rewards
This is a challenging role but one that offers genuine job satisfaction, making life better for millions every day. In return we offer a range of benefits including access to our contributory pension scheme, generous annual leave, free travel on all TfL services, and a range of retail, health and leisure discounts. Join us, and you’ll help shape the way we work as a business for the better.
Equality and Diversity
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability status.
On this recruitment campaign, as part of TfL’s continuing commitment to be an inclusive and equal opportunity employer we will be removing personal identifiable information from CVs and covering letters that could cause discrimination.
