The Role:

• Provides an independent financial view to Heads of merchandising and Product Directors on budgeting, forecasting and other adhoc projects with specific focus on intake, distribution and stocks

• Ensure that the key business decisions are made with full understanding of the financial consequences

• Reviews merchandise forecasts and provides support and challenge to business colleagues, to ensure these forecasts are robust.

• Highlights risks and opportunities within BMD strategy to HoF, HoM and Product Directors, and suggests workable action plans & follow up on progress made

• Oversees the stock control process and works cross functionally with Merchandising, Branch Merchandising, Logistics and DC colleagues to ensure strategic alignment

• Improve gross margin through support in supply chain cost reduction projects

• Manages multi-currency monthly cash flow intake and sales forecasts, working with Treasury to highlight any risks to cash management

• Provides trading commentary to finance colleagues for inclusion in management accounts and CFO presentations

• Review weekly/monthly freight reports and ensure an independent financial view is provided to the business on the Freight reporting

• Understand and explore opportunities to save on Supply Chain costs (e.g. Freight methods, Storage costs) without compromising the quality of the garments

• Oversee budget submission for Freight by subdivision and work with Heads of to communicate actual performance versus budget

• Oversee PO compliance across BMD teams to ensure POs are raised and allocated correctly.

• Ensure that the key business decisions are made with full understanding of the financial consequences

• Ensure uplift calculator is up to date with relevant business assumptions and acts as a robust tool for BMD team to derive margin expectations

• Working with Supply Chain and Supply Base team to understand intake expected in the near future and keep track of stock position at storage sites.

• Oversee Freight forwarder invoices and any queries around AASC, storage and other costs.

• Work closely with Supply Chain to optimise container capacity by loading the container in the most efficient way, without compromising the quality of garments.

• Support verifying rebate amounts and follow through with Supplier to ensure rebates can be processed in a timely manner

• Manage an analyst to ensure regular and ad hoc tasks are completed in a timely manner to a high standard.

 

About You:

Essential Skills

• Highly numerate and analytical, with strong attention to detail

• Able to produce and interpret information from complex data, and present clear, compelling findings for both finance and non-finance colleagues

• Strong commercial awareness and experience of managing cost budgets

• Understands key components which drive profit i.e. sales, markdown and buy in margin, how they interact and the relationships between these elements

• Strong interpersonal skills, clearly articulate finance concepts to employees of all levels

• Able to remain composed under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively to meet deadlines

• Systems literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Business Objects)

• Advanced Excel skills

• Adaptable to change

• Enthusiastic, proactive problem solver and self-starter

• Shows awareness of current performance and Brand strategy, and implications of current performance on this

• Strong team player who is confident and personable
