The BMS WW FME team plays a critical role in ensuring that healthcare providers are educated on the appropriate use of our medicines and have the information they need to improve outcomes for their patients. We develop strategies, tools, and guidance to empower Field Medical (FM) teams around the globe and ensure that they are aware, informed, engaged, and equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their roles effectively and compliantly. The Associate Director, FMCS is a strategic extended team member of WW FM Leadership Team (FMLT) and the broader WW Medical matrix, bridging WW FME, CV with strategic planning and execution.

Key Accountabilities

  • Reports to WW Field Medical Communication Lead (FMCL), CV within the WW FME team

  • Partners with the WW FMCL to assess key WW FM competencies and knowledge required to deliver the WW Medical plan objectives and ensure best-in-class stakeholder engagement for assigned assets/indications

  •  Develops and updates WW disease/product training plans annually and adapts to brand lifecycle, competitive landscape, and business priorities; manages WW FME, TA training calendar, develops meeting agendas (including Alliances), and facilitates training delivery

  • Informs the development/update of the disease-state communication platform with valuable insights; aligns with the broader Medical organization on the data-related nature of scientific exchange for Thought Leader (TL) interactions and Medical Communication Topics (MCTs) where appropriate; serves as liaison to WW FM and Medical Strategic leads

  • Contributes to the WW FM Plan and ensures pull-through of TA training strategies/plans, MCTs, Medical Insight topics/priorities (MEDsights), and FM study support including scope documents and pull through (InterAct)

  • Partners with WW Congress Strategy Lead, WWFME, TA team, and US FML to ensure a unified presence at priority WW & US congresses to support medical strategies by developing/facilitating FM data training (pre- and post-congress); Coordinates Session Summaries/STAR briefs and medical booth staffing, as needed (excl regional congresses); and coordinates congress-specific Medical insight review such as analysis & reporting (excl regional congresses)

  • Execution

  • Plans WW training evolution beyond the current Medical planning year and forecasts changes in curricula based on anticipated data releases, product lifecycle, and pipeline assets 

  • Delivers training of WW & US data from clinical trials on BMS assets to enable WW FM readiness, confidence, and credibility for robust scientific exchange to achieve key milestones including data readouts, congress activities & launches, and updates to FM onboarding guides/curricula for assigned assets/indications

  • Develops/delivers WW FM training sessions complete with topics, objectives, format, presenters, timing, and target audience; partners with meeting/event planning team on operations and logistics to execute training components including ongoing training, annual events, and role play scenarios/certification development

  • Develops/updates and gains alignment with key matrix partners on changes that may be required to Key Insight Topics/Priorities and communicates to WW FM

  • Aligns with WW Medical Capabilities Pillars to ensure an integrated Medical Communication plan and execution via MCIT (Medical Capabilities Integrated Team)

  • Facilitates WW clinical trial support activities, facilitates tracking and prioritization of field efforts in data generation, orchestrates study training when required, and maintains a FM study resource repository

  • Leads WW FIRe (Fast Insight Review) meeting coordination and execution which includes aligning with WW HOM team to manage US FIRe meetings (eg, timing); ensures pull through of insight strategy per FM plan (focused on Market Key Insight Details/Priorities); develops and communicates WW FIRe summary reports 

  • Collaborates with WW FME and WW Scientific Content & US Market Capabilities teams to develop/leverage foundational training content (disease state and asset/indication), as needed 

  • Communications & Value Demonstration

  • Collaborates with WW FMCL and WW FM Operations to demonstrate/communicate the value of FM initiatives and TL satisfaction, communicates value, metrics, and achievement of objectives to leadership (eg, Scorecards)

  • Aligns with WW standards for communicating about the disease area, compounds/assets, outcomes, and the value to patients in all WW FM materials; shares best practices and ensures consistency of approach across Markets

  • Analyzes and reports results of knowledge assessments and FM surveys to the Medical matrix team and to Leadership

  • Communicates delivery of new resources, Medical Insights, data updates, market events (eg, launches), other relevant topics for assigned TA in a timely/compliant manner

 
Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Advanced scientific or medical degree (eg, PhD, PharmD, MD) desired

  • Experience from a previously held Field deployed and/or Field Management position in Pharma or Biotech company (2+ years advantageous)

  • Experience and proven knowledge in disease-state area, regulatory policy, & guidance for Medical communications in the industry (desired)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence effectively across a matrixed, multicultural organization and manage Medical and Commercial activities

  • Ability to synthesize scientific data, communicate effectively, and demonstrate advanced presentation skills

  • Experience in developing Medical/Commercial strategy and/or objectives for a product portfolio

  • Demonstrated skills with tools and technologies used to communicate and train large Medical audiences (Live & Remote)

  • Able to travel domestically and/or internationally, up to 20%
