Project Overview:

Bechtel’s focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational renewables and clean energy projects. Bechtel renewables team will perform the project management, engineering, procurement, and construction for a 218MWac / 271MWdc utility-scale solar photovoltaic (“PV”) generating plant to be located in Fort Bend County, Texas. Position is based on project award.    

Position Summary:

The Electrical Field Engineer is responsible for overseeing operations within the applicable discipline. Supports the Project Field Engineer, Superintendents, craft, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and contractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. Reports to Project Field Engineer for daily scheduled work priorities, coordination between other disciplines and assigned specific tasks.  

Responsibilities:

  • Lead in process quality verifications during construction phase over respective discipline using GIS software and Smart Completions.
  • Support in the completion of quality documentation in SetRoute/Smart Completions through construction and system turnover.
  • Provides senior leadership for environmental, safety, health, injury/accident and fire prevention on the project. This includes safety orientation, preparation of safety procedures and leading direct hire safety meetings. Inspect building and area for unsafe conditions, behaviors and practices and take appropriate corrective action to mitigate and eliminate. 
  • Coordinate safety training and enforce safe work behaviors and practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) Lead. Be the Champion for the ZERO Accident Program. 
  • Ensure that Bechtel Core processes and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensure the applicable design document for electrical commodities such as PV panels, above ground DC cable management system, DC cable, and terminations are provided to direct hire craft personnel to complete work, and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
  • Responsible for the cost, schedule and support of craft labor and supporting the three week look ahead schedule for labor and equipment.
  • Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned electrical work activities or applicable project specific policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with other discipline superintendents and field engineers for interface coordination of construction work activities and plans.
  • Support the superintendent in preparation and implementation of the 3-week look-ahead and four-week rolling schedule and budget control with support from Project Controls.
  • Lead quantity tracking application for assigned discipline.
  • Prepare material requisitions for permanent and temporary materials as directed and coordinate through Supply Chain to obtain these materials.
  • Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.  

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
  • Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means and methods.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
