Our Fed IT Business Intelligence team is responsible for the data analysis of business information. BI technologies provide historical, current, and predictive views of business operations. Self-service BI is just one of the approaches to analytics that is utilized to explore and transform the data.

What you’ll achieve
As a Fed Business Intelligence - GreenPlum DBA, you will be responsible for installation, configuration, backup/restore, and maintenance of Postgres/Greenplum databases.
You will:

  • Lead and execute database design and engineering work, coordinating across multiple software engineering and product operations teams

  • Assist in the design and implementation of datastores, data lakes, data warehouses, data pipelines and data integrations; visualize and define standards and principles, including modeling, metadata, security, and reference data

  • Assist in collecting, analyzing, and understanding requirements. Advise software engineering staff on what is possible and realistic. Scope and estimate data initiatives

  • Play a key role to optimize the performance and scalability of our database platform

Essential Requirements

  • Proficient in Linux and other Unix-like operating systems

  • Minimum 10-years of experience with a broad range of database management systems spanning multiple technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Object DBs, etc.); specific experience with Elasticsearch (and the entire Elastic stack), MySQL, Oracle, Postgres are preferred

  • Experience leveraging a combination of cloud-based, distributed, and on-prem database implementations

  • Familiarity with containerized and server-less compute environments

  • Demonstrated track record with Performance, Tuning, and Optimization (PTO) of large-scale enterprise database environments

  • Proven experience with database migrations and related automation

  • Experience working with high volume solutions, including massive data stores containing a disparate combination of structured and unstructured datasets


Desirable Requirements

  • 10+ years of validated experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computing engineering or computer science
