Job Summary:
Accountable for supporting the Disneyland Resort’s Architecture & Facility Engineering’s Facilities Systems Engineering team with responsibilities for control system design, and providing field support for installations, sustainment, and troubleshooting! You will complete controls work to support controls and instrumentation Resort-wide, including Thermal Energy Storage System, Central Plants, building Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, utility monitoring/metering, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), lighting control, and water filtration plants. You will support the BTU and other energy conservation initiatives!
You will work with the Team Leader of Utilities and Infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Provides a technical resource for Disneyland Resort in Facility Control Systems. Designs, develop, tests, documents, and sustains automation and data reporting software for the Resort’s Central Energy and Utility Plants (Chiller, Boiler, Compressed Air, Water Filtration, etc.)
- Design control panels to UL 508A.
- Develop, maintain, and interpret engineering documentation, such as panel wiring, instrument data sheets, calibration datasheets, hardware, and software configuration to implement maintenance work and prevent or respond to downtimes.
- Provide technical support to field operators, develop engineering documentation and historical reports, train the operation and maintenance teams and recommend design improvements.
- Accurately complete required projects and support maintenance and reactive maintenance work without delays.
- Provide timely communication and status updates to the Manager, Controls Engineers, and Resort partners.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 2+ years of shown experience in programming and operation of a facility.
- Background in project management skills.
- Ability to interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), Sequence of Operations, and HVAC or Central Energy Plant Systems.
- Experience in wiring, solving, and testing Programmable Logic Controllers, variable-frequency drives (VFDs), and digital/analog instrumentation.
- Knowledge and experience designing in AutoCAD and design of UL 508A panels.
- Understanding of system-level considerations and basic mechanical principles – pumps, valves, pressurized systems, fans, compressed air, and air dryer systems.
- Knowledge of various electrical circuits, instrumentation– relays, proximity switches, control valves, motors, drives, solenoids, pneumatic valves, thermistors, 4-20mA, 0-10/2-10VDC, Resistance Temperature Detector (RTDs), etc.
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and test equipment usage (voltmeter, oscilloscope, etc.)
- Programming skills in ladder logic or structured text.
- Ethernet and Modbus communications networks and devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and/or Carrier Comfort Network Controllers.
- Understanding of communication technologies/protocols: CIP, BACnet, TCP/IP, Modbus, etc.
- Control system theory experience (closed-loop control).
- Fail-safe and safety-related software design and field wiring.
- Programming capabilities and experience with Carrier Comfort Works, iVu, and Wonderware.
- Experience with supervising electrical power distribution, energy management, and lighting control systems.
- Experience with the operation of large multi-building campuses and facility controls integration.
- Professional Control Systems or Electrical Engineering license.
Basic Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or another related field.
