Job Description

Job Purpose

Here at the Canal and River Trust we have an exciting opportunity for Face-to-Face Fundraisers to join our growing teams in London, West Midlands and Yorkshire.

The Canal and River Trust are entrusted with protecting and improving 2000 miles of waterways that flow through the most vibrant cities and countryside across England & Wales. The local canals and rivers provide a haven for people and nature, and Canal & River Trust is here so you have a place to escape where local people want to spend time and feel better as well as bringing wellbeing benefits to millions.

What we do.

We build stronger communities by giving people the chance to protect and improve the places that matter to them

We create new routes to work, places to enjoy and spaces where you want to be

We help thousands of people young and old develop their confidence and learn new skills

We champion the many benefits that our waterways offer and encourage more people to use and enjoy them

We care for a 2000-mile long ‘green-blue ribbon’ that connects hundreds of wildlife habitats, helping you to get closer to nature wherever you live

We protect our precious heritage so your children, and their children too, can connect with our rich history

We make sure that thousands of bridges, locks and aqueducts are open and ready for use all day, every day

Many people don’t realise that our waterways are here largely thanks to the efforts of thousands of volunteers and the generous donations we receive from our Friends greatly assist these efforts. To be able to continue to protect our waterways for future generations to come, we need people who share our passion for them. Therefore, we are looking for passionate people to come on board as Face-to-Face Fundraisers.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

What you will do.

You will be speaking to people on our towpaths by the canals and rivers to raise awareness and get regular donations as part of our “become a friend” campaign by speaking to as many people as possible.

You will be responsible for sharing engaging stories of our historic network, captivating wildlife and idyllic locations. As well as promoting wellbeing for local people.

You will work as part of a team to achieve the desired funding for the Canal & River Trust to continue further development along the waterways.

On occasions you will have the opportunity to assist with events and festivals.

Ability to build relationships quickly with people through face-to-face engagement.

A real love for the outdoors.

Excited about becoming part of a local team and help the charity to achieve its fundraising objective.

Possess exceptional communication skills

Operate well as part of a team.
