Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to assist the production lines with electrical / mechanical problems and issues and perform electrical/mechanical preventative maintenance. The customers of this position are the line operators and supervisors.

Persons in this position are responsible for troubleshooting and repairing all manner of electrical / mechanical problems while following all Good Hygienic Practices (GHP’s), food safety and quality policies and procedures.

PrincipalAccountabilities

• Be proactive in answering radio calls and conducting all aspects of the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and control systems.
• Communicate with other maintenance shifts to ensure proper pass down of maintenance related issues.
• Develop and maintain an effective working relationship between maintenance and other departments to ensure customer deadlines are met.
• Adhere to all food safety and quality policies.
• Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve productions methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
• Monitors and enforces safety requirements.
• Qualifications – Internal
• Must work well under pressure in a very fast paced environment
• Ability to work with a variety of hand tools
• Problem resolution skills and proficient interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Must be able and willing to train less experienced mechanics.

Required Qualifications
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
• Must be 18 years or older
• Ability to work in a cold to warm environment
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• 3 or more years of experience with mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• 2 or more years of experience with electrical power and controls (Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), and instruments) especially Allen-Bradley
• 2 or more years or experience in maintenance in food manufacturing or animal protein industry.

Preferred Qualifications
• Previous industrial refrigeration experience in food manufacturing and/or animal protein industry.
• 4 or more years of experience with mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) guidelines
• Ability to program Allen Bradley PLC’s
