The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Vertical Lift division has an opportunity for an Experienced Attack Mechanical System Design & Analysis Engineer, Level 3, in Mesa, AZ to support the Apache Helicopter and other attack helicopter variants. Along with these programs we support a large portfolio of products including Commercial Aircraft, Fixed Wing Fighters, Satellites, Space Exploration Crew Station, and many others all from Mesa, AZ.
Boeing Mechanical System Design and Analysis Engineers use their enthusiasm, curiosity and creativity to solve challenging problems that connect with the goals of the project, program, business units, and the enterprise. Solving these difficult problems involves working under general supervision and with multidisciplinary teams including various engineering disciplines, production operations, suppliers and customers. As an Experienced Boeing Mechanical System Design and Analysis Engineer your duties will include developing, maintaining, and modifying mechanical component and installation designs using 3-D Computer Aided Engineering tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Mechanical system design and analysis engineers play a key role in creating innovative solutions that move individual teams, Boeing, and our customers forward.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design.
Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups.
Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Contributes to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals.
Supports system components\' designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation.
Trains others.
Works under general direction.
Security Clearances:Â
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, or Structural Engineering is required.
3 years or more of experience in mechanical system design or analysis.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Technical experience with aircraft platforms
Technical experience with rotorcraft mechanical systems
Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams
Experience in structural design and manufacturing processes from the conceptual layout phase through build-to-package release.
Knowledge of structural drawing standards.
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Understanding of structural engineering fundamentals including airframe/component design and materials.
Three-dimensional parametric modeling experience using NX/Teamcenter or CATIA/ENOVIA methods and tools.
Knowledge of design for manufacturing for structural metallic and composite components and experience in manufacturing
Knowledge of design of 3D printed parts using SLS technology
Typical Education/Experience:Â
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years\' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years\' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
