Abbott is seeking an experienced recruiter to perform in-house executive search as part of a specialized global team. This requires a consultant who is smart, resourceful and hard-working and who will thrive in a high-stakes, fast-paced and detail-oriented environment. Depending on a candidate’s background, the role may focus on recruitment of commercial, technical or scientific leaders. This consultant will be responsible for understanding key success factors of an open role, market research and talent mapping, identification and attraction of top candidates, thorough vetting and submittal of qualified candidates, engagement and influencing of candidates and clients throughout the process, and successful hiring of the selected candidate.

This is a critical role that serves as a brand ambassador attracting top talent and puts new executives in place to have dramatic impact on Abbott, be it the company’s commercial and financial success or its product and innovation excellence. As a member of the in-house team, the Executive Recruiter must out-perform external retained recruiters in terms of quality, creativity, insight, tenacity and adaptability. A person successful in this role will have considerable opportunity to advance across roles in Global Talent Acquisition.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition (TA) leaders to assess, plan, execute and hire for executive level job openings
  • Become an expert within your designated function(s) on top talent, market insights, employer marketing and recruitment strategies
  • Develop a tailored sourcing plan for each executive level job opening, with emphasis on building diverse slates
  • Source passive candidates using CRM, online databases, referrals, cold calling, trade groups, conferences, and any other necessary channel
  • Build an active network of top talent that is ready, vetted and interested in potential roles within your designated function(s)
  • Monitor goals and timeline of active searches (quality, diversity, time to fill, etc.) and proactively resolve any issue
  • Facilitate consensus building and sound decision-making among hiring leaders and interviewers
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction with hiring leaders, candidates, Business HR and TA partners
  • Ensure CRM database is updated and fully utilized in an accurate and timely manner
  • Uphold strict confidentiality relating to Abbott, its hiring leaders, recruitment activities and prospective candidates

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree required, sourcing certifications preferred
  • 5+ years of recruitment experience, primarily at Director-plus and VP-plus levels
  • Proven track record of owning candidate process for research, sourcing, presentation, interview and offer
  • Deep experience interacting with, presenting to and being consultative to senior corporate leaders
  • Mix of retained agency and in-house experience preferred 
  • Experience with Fortune 500 clientele preferred
  • Superior customer service skills to build trust and maintain candidate as well as client relationships
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills (thinking outside the box)
