The Head of Hematology Clinical Search and Collaborations is accountable for setting the clinical development strategy for the external clinical collaborations assets or indications. This externally focused role will oversee the due diligence assessments and preparation of Clinical Development Plans (CDPs) in coordination with Disease Area Heads and Clinical Development Head and CS Head (or delegates) and play key leadership role on joint development committees (JDCs) for external partners.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Set the clinical development strategy for the external clinical collaboration’s assets or indications, in close collaboration with the relevant development teams

  • Oversee all clinical activities related to due diligences for M&A, licenses, divestitures and alternative financing opportunities, including competitive processes

  • Enhance the Hematology Development partnership with Business Development (Search & Evaluation, Transactions, and Licensing/Acquisition Teams), Commercial and broader R&D organization to support comprehensive assessments of external opportunities including new platforms and assets for the Hematology franchise

  • Build a future forward view of disruptive technologies and next-generation assets and platforms with recommended key actions to inform BD strategy and Hematology portfolio decisions

  • Serve as the key point of contact for all aspects of joint development

  • Build a franchise reputation that attracts innovators to bring their ideas to the organization

  • Work closely with colleagues in R&ED, GDD, Commercialization and other key functional areas on a global basis

  • Establish strong partnership and interfaces with the external companies

  • Build relationships with thought leaders, physicians, and patient advocacy groups outside of organization

DESIRED BACKGROUND, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

  • MD, or PhD with 8+ years of experience in drug development highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated excellence skills in clinical development strategy including the clinical components of regulatory submission(s)

  • Ability to synthesize internal and external data to produce a clinical strategy and work with stakeholders to ensure a robust enterprise level strategy for asset(s) including late and post-marketing development

  • Proven track record in managing external collaborations across the spectrum of partners (from start-up biotech to big pharma)

  • Proven differentiated ability to support and manage across the totality of the spectrum including development of NRDG with RDG

  • Global experiences preferred

  • Experience interacting with business development and licensing
