We are currently recruiting for long term career professionals, with an initial assignment supporting Telecommunications projects across the UK. Bechtel has been selected as a Delivery Partner on a £4 Billion programme to bring high speed internet connectivity to communities. The core focus is to deploy next generation fibre infrastructure across the public sector, businesses, mobile operators, and homes. These projects are key to improving connectivity for millions of people and boosting economic productivity in the long-term.

Position Summary 

The ES&H Manger  has responsibility for ensuring compliance in matters of Health, Safety and Environment for the safe delivery of £50-£300 million of construction works (civil and fibre) within a geographical area consisting of several towns and cities. The role holder would be a team player capable of adapting to an integrated team environment and can influence the supply chain without authority. A driven self-starter, confident, articulate, capable of leading change by example and working collaboratively and flexible to meet all the demands of the customer. You will lead a team of regional ES&H Specialists, provide ES&H strategic direction to the project, design, and technical teams.

 

Typical Responsibilities 

·       Managing a team of Regional SHE Business Partners and supporting to achieve SMART objective 

·       Responsible for supporting the Head of SHE in Setting and Delivering the SHE strategy and leading roadmap/transformation activities

·       Assure compliance to Customer and Company Plans, Policies and Procedures and drive a proactive, innovative ES&H approach across the region 

·       Review, develop and implement a credible Customer ES&H Management System, including but not limited to; KPls, dashboards, best practices, lessons learned, and reporting systems / applications, which align to the customer and parent company policies, procedures, and legal requirements 

·       Support the regional teams and supply chain to develop contractor owned improvement plans when intervention is required  

·       Be an ambassador for ES&H in the region and help everyone understand how they can champion ES&H as part of their role on the project 

·       Provides an appropriate level of oversight of the management of ES&H impacts associated with organisational and operational change. Establish and drive an effective risk review process  

·       Actively participate in serious incident investigations to help identify the root cause, corrective actions and lessons-learned are implemented 

·       Support and develop best practice as part of regional ES&H campaigns initiatives or follow up to incidents 

·       Support the customer in the delivery of collaborative supply chain ES&H forums and focus working groups to deliver the customers ES&H strategy and improve ES&H performance 

 

Preferred Skills and Qualification 

 

·       A qualification in Occupational Health & Safety. E.G Masters, BSC, NVQ, NEBOSH Diploma  

 

·       Chartered Professional Membership â€“ CMIOSH  

 

·       15 years + relevant experience in SHE across major infrastructure and engineering projects, particularly in civil infrastructure and the telecommunications industry 

 

·       Degree level qualification in relevant discipline e.g. construction management, psychology, engineering

 

·       Strong knowledge of relevant legalisation and associated H&S technical standards and HSSE Management Systems, ISO14001, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001 

 

·       Full Driver’s License that is valid in the UK
