Job Description

Job description

Some careers have more impact than others.

If you’re looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you’ll be.

Retail Banking and Wealth Management serves more than 50 million customers worldwide with a complete range of banking and wealth management services to enable them to manage their finances and protect and build their financial futures. It is a global business that brings together management responsibility for Retail Banking, Wealth Management, Insurance and Asset Management with a focus on customer-centric propositions and innovative and efficient distribution channels.

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as a Strategist, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

The role holder will be part of HSBC Asset Management’s Global Investment Strategy Team, led by the Chief Strategist. This team is responsible for top-down research to support decision-making across the global investment platform, and for creating thought leadership and actionable market insights for clients, partners, and key stakeholders.

The Equity Strategist will help to support the HSBC AM House View, and will be a specialist on global developed and emerging equity markets. You will take a lead in developing our equity market views; building models, generating research ideas, identifying key themes, and establishing strategic and tactical preferences. The role has significant scope for high business impact and strong career development over time.

In this role, you will:

  • A team player. Work as part of the global investment strategy team to support investment decision making across HSBC AM’s global front office.
  • Think globally. Conduct top-down investment research to support the ongoing development of the HSBC AM House View.
  • Act as a specialist for global developed and emerging equity markets: developing models, generating market ideas, researching key themes, and establishing strategic and tactical preferences.
  • Be a strong communicator. Communicate ideas in a clear manner to a range of stakeholders and partners. Essential to be able to write clearly and present well.
  • Deliver high-quality, top-down research content for key stakeholders in the HSBC AM investment team. And thought leadership for our clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Be a team player, and work collaboratively as part of an intellectually-curious group of researchers.

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • We are looking for a talented, ambitious, and intellectually-curious investment strategist to join HSBC Asset Management’s global investment strategy team.
  • The role requires good analytical skills, a high level of interest in macro and investment markets, a strong work ethic and positive attitude, and an ability to take initiative and be creative.
  • The ideal candidate is likely to already have some experience working as an investment strategist or equity strategist, and is looking to step-up into a bigger, more complex role with significant scope to influence investment decision-making, and strong support for career development.
  • The role holder will likely have a background in Economics, Maths, or Sciences and a professional qualification such as a CFA or MBA. But we are open-minded on research training, especially if you are able to demonstrate a commitment to investment markets and share our values.
  • The role holder will need to be a strong communicator – both with pen and with voice. Language skills are desirable, but not essential.

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
