About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed Vehicle and Equipment operations team supporting the requirements of Firefighters across 53 sites, both in the UK and overseas. The Equipment Support Assistant will be responsible for providing support to stations through the Vehicles & Equipment Single Point of Contact (SPOC), management of fire service equipment through an asset management system.
What you will do:
Support the V&E team with the day to day running and co-ordination of the V&E service through the equipment Single Point of Contact (SPOC). This will include responding to telephone and email enquiries, allocation of assets and resources, maintain trackers and action logs and providing advice where required
Utilise the Red Kite the Asset Management System (AMS) to manage the asset portfolio
Support the V&E team with the day to day management and tracking of fire service equipment in AMS
Prioritise requests and demands according to operational needs
Support equipment movements including the booking of courier services as required
Liaise with a range of suppliers to seek quotes and place orders
Develop and maintain a general understanding of all policies and protocols for V&E
Understanding of the Vehicle Support Assistant role to assist where required
You and your experience:
Previous experience of an admin support role
Experience of the management of assets and equipment stocks
Previous help desk experience
Good communication skills
Ability to work under pressure
Good decision-making skills
Awareness, if not experience, of the military environment and Defence sector
Awareness, if not experience, of the fire and/or emergency services sector
Familiarity in the use of asset management systems
