Job Description
As a Health, Safety, & Environmental Intern, your responsibilities include:
- Attending daily leadership team meeting and monthly safety meeting
- Supporting ongoing training initiatives and being responsible for personal and process safety, environmental stewardship programs
- Special assignments or projects relating to EHS
- Facilitating Industrial Hygiene monitoring
- Conducting Environmental assessments pertinent to air emissions, spill prevention, water usage, wastewater, stormwater, RCRA waste.
- Developing procedures pertaining to EHS programs
- Conducting safety audits, inspections, and JSA's
- Participating in the site Safety Steering Committee
- Reviewing and proposing updates and/or changes to current safety programs
The Health, Safety, & Environmental Intern position is well suited for you if you:

- Are a self-starter with the ability to be productive independently and support multiple projects simultaneously
- Have the ability to listen and understand a process before recommending improvements
- Demonstrate capacity to tackle problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks
Qualified candidates will have:
- Progress towards a bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 preferred
- Ability to work 40 hrs per week during the summer internship term
- Strong business insight and continuous improvement mindset
- Proficiency in managing data within Excel or similar databases
- Superb attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills
- Developed multi-tasking and time management skills and are well organized
- Reliable transportation required to get to and from facility each work day
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must:
- Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Ingredion does not intend to sponsor work visas with respect to this position or to provide this position as OPT or CPT.
- Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s Degree Program. If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
