Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

 

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world.

 

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains, we are currently seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join HSBC Technology.

 

Wholesale IT (WS IT) is the technology organization that provides banking services to corporate and commercial banking clients. It provides a comprehensive set of capabilities that cover the global need of our clients.

 

Global commercial banking (CMB) has started the transformation journey 3 years ago, and is now entering a significant investment cycle to fundamentally transform our platforms.  This will provide our customers and our staff with industry leading platforms with open architecture design, API and micro services, data insight / Machine Learning, and will operate on Cloud where possible.  We’ll also use latest technology, data insight, and tool set to support the significant growth ambition of the commercial bank.

 

What you will be doing;

 

  • Working primarily on UK  CMB programmes with internal staff and 3rd party vendors. Regular direct working with business and transformation partners.
  • Design and own the end to end architecture of secure, robust, scalable, multi-tier, multi-platform systems, including the integration of multiple applications and fulfilment of non-functional requirements. Articulate the application of technology to senior management, demonstrating an understanding of the business needs and drivers, and developing an architectural blueprint that clearly supports these needs and goals.
  • Act as the lead architect in communicating architecture within multiple DevOps pods ensuring fit for purpose solutions
  • You will provide technically and commercially viable technology solutions to the complex business problems.
  • You will lead the Architecture requirements of the UK CMB IT transformation, analyse functional and non-functional requirements and participate in clear choice and RFP process as required.
  • Ensure the proposed solution is fit for the purpose
  • Conduct PoC’s to prove the complex technology decisions
  • Conduct or participate architectural reviews. Own and manage the architectural risks
  • Provide technology leadership and mentorship to the development team
  • Lead architects across multiple programmes and DevOps pods providing an escalation point for decision making

Qualifications

 

What you will bring to the role; 

 

To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

 

  • Experience of designing/architecting n-tier enterprise applications
  • Good understanding of cloud, integration and workflow technologies a distinct advantage (eg Mulesoft, IBM BPM)
  • Good understanding of the banking domain
  • Experience of architecture requirements of large scale, complex transformation programmes
  • Experience of managing stakeholders expectation
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation with good command of written and spoken English
  • Track record of delivery under diversified/matrix team structure
  • Familiar with Agile software development lifecycle and methodologies

 

The base location is either London, Birmingham or Sheffield, with travel required to all three sites”?
