Project Overview:
The ML2 Project includes the design and construction of a launch platform for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The purpose of ML2, located at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), is to provide a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS), an advanced launch vehicle that will fill America’s need for deep space missions. ML2 includes many different subsystems that must operate and fit within the constraints of the structure and provide physical interface with KSC launch sites’ ground systems.
Position Summary:
The Engineering Technologist will be working as part of the engineering team assisting engineers in identifying and extracting technical data from a variety of sources, tracking information, and locating documents. Will work with the schedule and reporting work progress. Will work to organize and coordinate submittals, document reviews, meetings, and workshops. The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for utilizing the computer to collect, organize, and present technical data through the use of databases. Will be interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines in day-to day work activities. Will report to the Project Engineering Manager.
The Engineering Technologist performs data searches and maintains open item punch list items status. The Engineering Technologist supports meeting presentations, including preparing presentation slides. The Engineering Technologist will also support the preparation of technical documents under the direction of an engineer. The Engineering Technologist supports the Project Engineering team in monitoring and statusing cost and schedule performance. The Engineering Technologist assures the work is performed to high quality standards while executing to the schedule. In addition, it will be required that the candidate has excellent communication skills and can demonstrate leadership, quality, and safety values within the work group and to interfacing disciplines.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications:
AA/AS degree and 1 year of relevant experience with computer databases and spreadsheets and/or with identification and management of technical/design data.
Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Must be a US Citizen.
Minimum Qualifications:
Computer Skills: A strong aptitude for utilizing the computer to collect, organize, and present technical data through the use of relational databases.
Technical Skills: Analyze data within technical documents to identify relevant information and properly classify that information so that it can be sorted and readily retrieved for later analysis and use by project staff.
Analytical Skills: Possess the desire and ability to monitor large quantities of information and employ efficient extraction techniques in response to requests for information.
Communication Skills: As a member of an Engineering team, communicate with other data analysts, engineers, technical experts, and management.
Attention to Detail: Possess the ability to accurately identify and capture relevant technical details from within large documents and data sets.
Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Candidate must have strong organizational skills.
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft 365 application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Experience developing and maintaining spreadsheets and be able to understand the purpose of pivot tables.
Preferred Qualifications:
Plans, coordinates, and works independently with limited direction.
Requires judgment and experience in the substantial adaptation of engineering techniques.
Devises new approaches to technical problems.
Working knowledge of procurement processes.
Knowledge of engineering planning.
