Job Description

Job Summary:

Engineering Services Manager-Alarm Systems will lead a team of experienced fire alarm technicians. The systems' complexities range from the most basic to some of the most complex of systems covering a full spectrum of occupancies. Provide primary technical oversight and direction for the Testing, Inspection, and Maintenance of all fire alarm systems across the Walt Disney World property. Shape, direct, and control the daily activities of a staff of up to 40 experienced technicians that cover shifts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You will report to the Manager - Technical Services

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the team to ensure daily work schedules are maintained
  • Provide guidance to partners on property for any upgrade, new installation, modification, repair, or construction that directly or indirectly affects the Fire Alarm Control Panel and Fire Alarm system(s)
  • Help develop labor schedules and staff loading to ensure task completion
  • Maintain a commitment to Guest and Cast satisfaction and safety
  • Provide and help manage staff development and performance assessments of personnel within responsibilities
  • Ensure the proper implementation and adherence of all company procedures
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory laws and industry requirements to include all applicable state and NFPA codes and standards
  • Advise and implement industry/field best practices to improve products applications, along with service

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with testing and inspection of fire alarm systems and interfaces
  • Experience with various types of Siemens and Edwards System Technologies (EST) fire alarm control panels
  • Understanding of alarm software and reporting
  • NFPA-related knowledge (NFPA 25, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 90A) along with the Florida Fire Prevention Code (current edition)
  • Read and interpret fire alarm drawings and technical specifications
  • Comfort with understanding and conveying written and verbal data and analysis to partners at all levels
  • Well versed with on-site monitoring (Proprietary)
  • Knowledge of computer programs, including knowledge in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in financial management

You are willing/able to:

  • Work evenings, holidays, and weekends, including 3rd shift
  • Function as Duty Manager once per month – this is a 24/7 on-call responsibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • License - State of Florida Electrical Fire Unlimited or Electrical Contractor
  • Certification - NICET 2
  • Fire Alarm System Agent/Burglar Alarm System Agent (FASA/BASA)
  • Communicate to a diverse group of individuals including company leadership, regional staff, customers, and vendors
  • Manage and partner with a diverse workforce
  • Understand the technical aspects of products and applications to make informed management decisions
  • Develop management reports and accurately report information
  • Participate in a culture that builds relationships with Cast Members, peers, partners and customers to cultivate a team environment
  • Working knowledge of maintenance reporting and scheduling systems such as Maximo
  • Background in maintaining relationships and working with partners at all levels
  • Meet deadlines, balance several high priority assignments, and perform job responsibilities

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, building construction or equivalent experience

Preferred Education

  • Fire Science Degree or Equivalent
  • Fire Safety Inspector 1 or 2 Certification
  • Electrical Engineering Degree
