Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join us in one of our Transport System Engineering teams and, as well as maintaining legacy assets, you’ll deliver new systems and solutions. There’s more to it than tubes, roads, buildings and bridges. This is about connecting communities and creating opportunities, so we’re ready for the 21st century and beyond.
Since the mid 1960’s TfL has been using electronic systems to provide efficient, high capacity control of traffic, both rail and road. In addition, mechanical assets to support legacy road and rail traffic control systems are in use. Some of these assets are becoming fatigued and life expired, requiring innovative and novel ideas to allow their continued, reliable use for the foreseeable future whilst the new upgrade projects are rolled out and commissioned. The TfL Road & Rail Traffic Control Systems Engineering Services team consists of around 28 staff, the successful candidate will be primarily working within the Signal Works Delivery of the team. Overall the team is located at two locations with a diverse suite of roles from maintaining legacy road and rail systems over 60 years old to commissioning the latest and most secure control systems and influencing the strategy of future upgrades and systems.
Primary role will be to assist the Senior Engineering Lead to lead a team of Installation Engineers in delivering signalling installation projects and to assist in offering specialist signal expertise as a Signal Engineer. Assist in delivery of all work to an agreed programme and budget. Be a point of contact for clients throughout the whole project lifecycle when the Senior Engineering Lead is not available. Assist in co-ordination of activities between the Project Management Team and Installation Delivery teams.
