Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Design, develop, build, and test electronic circuits for electrification products
• Requirements management for system level integration of electronics hardware
• Develop hardware designs which include specification, architecture, component selection & sizing
• Ability to conduct and document tolerance analysis, part stress analysis, circuit analysis, functional safety analysis, safety hazard analysis, hardware to software interface and design FEMAs
• Ability to design HW to meet Environmental, EMI/EMC, thermal, shock & vibration
• Prepare DVP&R & create bench test and production test specifications for validating hardware designs
• Resolve product quality issues from field as well as from supplier
• Proactively collaborate with cross functional engineering groups, manufacturing, quality, product support and suppliers to deliver Caterpillar’s NTI and NPI program deliverables
• Perform value analysis / value engineering to provide cost-effective electronic hardware solution of highest quality standards for various electrification products.
• Prepare technical reports and conduct design reviews with the stakeholders
• Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members and other cross functional teams in a concise and accurate manner
• Work with business unit, corporate battery systems SMEs, electrical and mechanical engineers for delivering projects on time, peer-review projects of other engineers as required.
Basic Qualification:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics Engineering
• Relevant experience of embedded control systems hardware design experience for high voltage applications
• Communicate technical information effectively with all stakeholders
• Willingness to travel domestic/international up to 10% when job role requires
Desired Qualification:
• Experience with Battery Management System hardware design
• Hands on experience to use ECAD tools required for schematic design, PCB layout and circuit analysis
• Strong experience with PCB design using Altium Designer
• Functional safety & reliability design experience
