Job Description
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Design and development engine valve mechanism systems and components includes Camshaft, rockers, valves etc
- performs engineering problem solving to ensure success of strategic NPI/NTI, CPI, and aftermarket growth opportunities across the LPSD platforms (Med Vee, 3500, C175, 3600/C280 and 4000)
- Perform design calculations, initiate ideas, support design failure model and effect analysis (DFMEA) and develop validation plan for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs
- The major focus of this role is continued technical delivery while becoming capable of leading and executing critical Cam design projects using various analysis tool with limited technical team oversight.
- Perform product maintenance in support of Continuous Product Improvement (CPI)
- Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Process partners to understand and document the requirements
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, purchasing during part development
- Work with simulation team to plan and deliver simulation activity (not responsible for execution of Simulation)
- Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members and other cross functional teams
Educational Requirement
- BE Mechanical engineering with minimum 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in engine industry (or)
- ME / MTech Mechanical engineering (specialization in solid mechanics/Engineering Design/fluid mechanics /thermal engineering/heat transfer) with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in engine industry (ideal candidate)
Skill Sets/Competencies (Must to have)
- Good Product knowledge on Core engine systems
- Product knowledge of engine components like Cam shafts, Rockers, lifters and major core components.
- Basic Knowledge of Casting, Machining, Surface Finishing and Heat Treatment Processes
- Proficient in modelling of castings using CREO
- Knowledge of applicable simulation tools like Stress Analysis, Heat Transfer, Thermo Mechanical Fatigue (TMF) or Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) etc.
- Ability to apply GD&T based on the functional requirement
- Ability to communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner
Skill Sets/Competencies (Nice to have)
- Familiar with concept to detailed design for New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Familiar with Value analysis/Value engineering techniques
- Reliability analysis
- Adequate knowledge on external standards
- Familiar with Teamcenter or equivalent engineering data management tool
TOP CANDIDATES will have:
- Advanced degree from reputed institution
- 3+ years of Core engine component design and development (5C components) working with global and regional teams
- Experience in working with regional suppliers for core engine component development
- Good knowledge of cross functional roles in domains such as Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, related to engines
- Core engine component validation and failure analysis skills
