Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join us in one of our Transport Infrastructure Engineering teams and, as well as maintaining legacy assets, you’ll deliver new systems and solutions. There’s more to it than tubes, roads, buildings and bridges. This is about connecting communities and creating opportunities, so we’re ready for the 21st century and beyond.
Day-to-day, your focus will be on delivering designs, drawings, information, calculations and enhancements that keep vital, innovative and big-budget projects moving. You’ll make sure assets are safe, working and compliant; develop your own solutions; and be a trusted source of engineering advice for everyone, including our Heads of Engineering Delivery.
As a Mechanical Engineer, with Discipline skills (design or design assurance in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, tunnel ventilations, water supply, gas supply mechanical sub-systems etc) you will be an associate member ideally working towards or have chartership via an appropriate Institution (IET, IMechE or CIBSE etc.), albeit with good knowledge of Electrical & Mechanical systems within the building services industry. Along with working knowledge of design, construction, operation, maintenance and assessment of Mechanical and Electrical systems within a transport environment, you will have a good understanding of relevant E&M legislation and associated standards, as well as the ability to make recommendations and provide advice to stakeholders and other Engineering team members. You will need to be a clear communicator, both verbally and in report writing and may work either as part of a multi-disciplinary team or alone in certain instances.
The more teams you’ve been a part of, the better. But it’s important you bring a passion for the TfL Vision and strategy too. That’s because, wherever you join us, you’ll explore work of unparalleled scale, scope and variety across a unique range of projects, as you build your career and expertise. So come and bring on tomorrow, as an Engineer at TfL.
