Job Description

As a member of the North America Employee Relations Center of Excellence, the Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for addressing employee relations matters ranging from performance management issues and policy violations and interpretation to investigating and resolving employee complaints related to Title VII and workplace safety. The role requires the ability to analyze sophisticated information, develop valid fact-based conclusions using a variety of resources and techniques, and present findings to all levels of management and leadership.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations questions and provide relevant and effective advising services to HR partners and business leaders on employee relations matters such as: employee behavior and performance concerns, termination requests, policy violations and other related areas.
  • Recognize potential employee experience/relations issues in a proactive manner and resolve/raise the concern to the appropriate center of excellence.
  • Communicate with employees regarding employee relations concerns; provide guidance and recommendations for resolution of issues.
  • Assist managers and supervisors in understanding and implementing company policies related to performance, discipline, and related topics.
  • Apply a solid understanding of company policy, culture and core values to provide recommendations in partnership with the ER Manager, HR Business Partners, and legal counsel.
  • Provide support to the larger HR team related to worker’s compensation claims, disability claims (reasonable accommodation versus undue hardship), wage and hour, and/or unlawful or inappropriate conduct or other legal issues.
  • Serve as point of contact and provide support, guidance and direction to management and field operations on performance improvement and corrective action matters, up to and including termination.

  • Proficient knowledge of employment, wage and hour, FMLA, and EEO laws and regulations
  • Respond effectively to – and interact with – all levels of organizational staff, including executives.
  • Analytical/fact based decision-making.
  • Unquestionable integrity, confidentiality and professionalism in a wide variety of situations.
  • Dispute resolution and negotiation.
  • Flexible, innovative and composed in a fast paced, growth-oriented and time-critical environment.
  • Work well under stressful conditions.
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office Suite systems including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Experience:

  • 5+ years combined human resources, labor relations, investigative, or legal experience, and demonstrated passion for employee relations, labor relations, investigations, or labor/employment law with an emphasis on labor and employee relations work.

Education:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources or Juris Doctor, preferred.
