Job purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for â€œdynamic, results driven” individual to join as an EMC Test Engineer.  The EMC Test Engineer will ensure the product samples are properly tested and validated to identify potential susceptibility and/or interference of other devices in the field.  This role will primarily oversee high voltage transient testing. The EMC Test Engineer will work closely with design engineers, EMC test technicians, and a validation engineer in the development and execution of EMC testing. This person will work closely with cross-functional teams and various customers to understand the product and ensure it meets/exceeds customer performance and EMC requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Review customer test specifications, lead discussions with product team, and supporting the design team in developing a test plan.
  • Identifying required equipment to meet test requirements.
  • Review equipment calibration data for approval.
  • Verifying test setups meet specifications.
  • Analyze test data to ensure testing was executed properly, meets acceptance criteria, and learnings are communicated to the product engineering team.
  • Identifying potential cost savings and improvements.
  • Creating test reports.
  • Support product engineering on root cause analysis of product failures.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in engineering discipline, but Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology are preferred
  • 3+ years minimum engineering experience in laboratory / test environment, but 5+ years preferred
  • Demonstrated on the job professional and technical competence
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Be responsible and capable of self-direction
  • Strong leadership skills, driving self and organization to improve performance
  • Collaborative, team player, and display a high level of maturity
  • Likes challenging problems with strong problem solving skills
