JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

The Electronics and Controls Engineering Manager will lead and develop the engineering team in North America in the development of electronics and controls in support of Morse Systems eProducts.  Responsibilities include development of electronics and controls best practices for traditional Internal Combustion Engine products, along with embedded electronics and controls for Electric Variable Cam timing (eVCT) system.  Responsibilities will also include the development of electronics and controls for electric vehicles in the areas of DC fast charging and power electronics.  The manager will coordinate with the global engineering teams to establish product line road maps and establish to good development processes, including ASPICE and Functional Safety.  The Engineering Manager will report to the Chief Engineer of eProducts. This position can be located in Ithaca, New York or Auburn Hills, Michigan

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish best practices for electronics interfaces and controls in support of traditional Internal Combustion Engine product lines, including customer support on proper application of controls to their systems.
  • Lead the design, development, and validation of the embedded Electronics, Controls, and Software for the brushless DC motor as part of an Electric Variable Cam Timing (eVCT) system.
  • Develop a North American team to tackle the growing product lines for DC Fast Chargers and Power Electronics for future Electric Vehicle applications.
  • Drive a robust engineering process according to the Morse Systems product development process, while integrating ASPICE and Functional Safety into the process
  • Manage the engineering talent to create innovative, high performing teams
  • Coordinate with global engineering teams for engineering process consistency and product line road map development.
  • Support cross functional teams in the sale, development, and industrialization of product line road maps.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Automotive Industry
  • Experience in customer-facing roles in product development of embedded control systems
  • Automotive, electric vehicle sector and technology products experience
  • Deep understanding electronics design, and software development best practices including knowledge of ASPICE and Functional Safety
  • Previous experience presenting to customers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – CORE COMPETENCY

  • Master’s degree
  • Product experience with automotive electro-mechanical devices such as brushless DC motor preferred
  • Experienced with engine mounted components with integrated electronics
  • Experience with SW design and implementation for embedded systems using C++ and model based tools such as Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience with electronics schematic design, layout for robustness and EMC
  • Proven leadership capability of both teams and customers
  • Analytical problem solving, critical thinking, and hands-on approach
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Solid understanding of the multi-disciplinary management of technical information and gathering this information from technical sources to be relayed in a simple manner
  • Initiative taker, eager to break new ground, create opportunities for the team
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Ability to work and keep constant communication with engineering team located in Los Angeles
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and written
