The Electronic Technician Maintenance Lead is responsible for leading the on shift maintenance team in our Hill´s Pet Nutrition Facilities, by:
Serving as a primary conduit for information on technical and maintenance issues within and between the operations group.
By assisting in the development and infrastructure of the maintenance team such as providing training and coaching.
To decrease equipment downtime through high level troubleshooting.
To advance Planned Maintenance through leadership of FP&R initiatives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate and lead on shift maintenance while performing normal Maintenance Tech III duties
Functions as a technical resource and shift troubleshooting resource for operations and maintenance
- Requires climbing, bending and crawling
- Requires a high level of understanding in industrial control systems including PLCs, power distribution, pneumatics, drives, etc.
Directs maintenance crews to ensure repairs and PMs are performed in a timely and effective manner
Conduct training for controls and electrical related systems for maintenance and operations personnel
Ability to manage projects to completion
Ensure compliance with industry practices and regulatory agency requirements
Document changes made to software and hardware (electrical and Process & Instrumentation prints)
Document changes made to software and hardware (electrical and Process & Instrumentation prints)
Understand and comply with Hill’s policies, safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety. Identify and report Food Safety issues to management
Basic required qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
5+ years of plant maintenance experience or Technical/Associates degree or higher with 1 year of plant maintenance experience
Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer - G-Suite, Microsoft office, Lotus Notes, ERP´s (such as SAP) & dashboards experience.
Ability to program and troubleshoot utilizing ladder logic programming for Allen-Bradley and Modicon PLCs.
Ability to read and use electrical schematics
Know, understand and interpret NEC regulatory requirements
Ability to design and apply industrial power distribution and control circuits including 3 phase 480 VAC, 120 VAC and 24 VAC
Experience using multi-meters, insulation testers, laser alignment equipment, etc.
Be available to work on different shifts, rotating shift, 12 hour shift, and weekends as needed
Ability to effectively communicate 360 degrees
Be able to coordinate and lead on shift maintenance while still performing normal maintenance tech III duties
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years plant floor experience in a maintenance or programming role or degree in related field
Ability to program and troubleshoot Wonderware Intouch
Ability to program and troubleshoot utilizing ladder logic programming for Siemens and Sigmatek PLCs.
Ability to create and administer Microsoft SQL databases
Experience using Wonderware INSQL data historian
Experience using Wonderware DT analyst downtime analysis tool
Experience using Industrial Networks (Profibus, Devicenet, Data highway, Modicon RIO, Ethernet, HART Communicator)
Experience troubleshooting Micromotion Flow meters
Ability to troubleshoot and commission Variable Frequency AC Drives, Soft Starts, 3 phase motor starters, Solenoids, control values, Servo Motors and drives
Expected Areas of Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Grip with hands through shift repairing electrical and PLC equipment and performing preventative maintenance
Bend at waist 90 degrees and flex at knees 120 degrees
Ability to work with hands overhead
Walk unlimited distances up to 12 hours on concrete floor
Climb steps and/or ladders repeatedly
Wear required personal protective equipment, including hearing, eye, foot and dust protection
Perceive visual and audible alarms and telephones while wearing hearing protection
Receive and transmit information in person and by telephone communications
Exposure to both cold and hot work environments aligned to external temperatures as well as confined space both inside and outside the facility
Lift varied capacities repeatedly up to 60 pounds and push/pull carts and equipment as needed up to 500 pounds. Objects to be lifted that may weigh 50 pounds include bags of product that must be cut open and reworked. Consequences of not being able to lift these bags include having to scrap the materials rather than being able to use it in the production process which could result in a significant adverse financial impact.
Exposure to dry ingredients (primarily grain) producing a dusty environment (dusk mask provided)
Exposure to industrial chemicals used in production, equipment for testing and treatment of liquids including water
Computer keyboarding
Occasional exposure to confined space
Type, using a computer keyboard, intermittently for up to six hours per day
