Job Description

Job Purpose: 4S – 

Silversword is seeking a junior to mid-level Electronic Engineering Technician to work with our Applied Physics Division (APD) on new product development efforts. Under minimal supervision, build, test and trouble shoot electronics circuits as required to support the Applied Physics Division at 4S – Silversword.  Work will be performed in a laboratory environment with a variety of moderate to complex tasks and functional activity.

Circuit card assembly and test

  • Assemble circuit cards under the guidance of an electronic engineer.
  • Troubleshoot and repair circuit cards as required.
  • Test and validate circuits for functionality and performance.
  • Ability to work with electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, power meters, power supplies, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in digital and analog circuits including power and control circuitry.
  • Experience assembling opto-electronic components a plus.
  • Assist in writing reports, operational documentation, and other documents as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Skills/Qualifications:  Organizational and planning skills, excellent communication and problem solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy, solid judgment and decision-making ability, takes initiative and is adaptable.

Military Facility Access:  Must be able to qualify for and obtain a base access pass. 

Clearance: A security clearance is not required for this position at this time. US Citizenship is required.

Education and Experience: This position requires:

  • An associates or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Electronics Engineering and at least two years of relevant experience as an Electronic Engineering technician. Research and Development experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with electronic fabrication tools such as soldering tools, de-soldering tools, microscopes, etc.
  • Experience with surface mount and through hole assembly.
  • Experience with opto-electronics is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Solidworks PCB, ORCAD, or PADS design software.
  • Experience in or work for the U.S. military is also highly desirable.
