A day in the life of an AES DE Electrical Operations Technician will include:

Monitoring daily operation performance of the Hawaii solar facilities; Planning and performing preventative & corrective maintenance on solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) equipment; Based out of your home, travel to solar facilities to perform preventative & corrective maintenance and ongoing construction activities; and Coordinating and managing contractors engaged to support the maintenance activities.

The successful candidates will have a depth of experience in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of AC and DC electrical systems of varying types and voltages with a strong preference for candidates with experience working with PV solar and Battery Energy Storage systems (BESS). The position will be based in Rochester and/or Syracuse, centrally within AES DE’s portfolio of assets in the region with regular regional travel to attend to the sites’ needs.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Communicate operations/maintenance events on a routine basis utilizing a combination of phone calls, emails, and daily production reporting.
• Participate in the construction/commissioning of the facilities within the region, working closely with the AES DE construction team to ensure a high-quality build and successful commissioning of the facilities.
• Acquire and retain vendors and third party contractors to assist the facility, when maintenance activities exceed the on-site knowledge, capabilities, and/or certification levels. 
• Create and maintain a consumables and critical spare parts list, submitting Purchase Requests as required to order new parts and consumables. 
• Lead/support warranty claims processes with vendors as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Appropriate Electrical trade qualification with at least 3-years working on utility scale electrical systems.
• Experience working with C&I or utility scale PV systems, highly preferred
• Experience with Battery Energy Storage systems, a plus
• College degree in a related field, a plus.
• High degree of commitment to a quality safety culture and an incident-free work environment.
• Trained and knowledgeable on the application of NFPA 70e regulations (arc flash/blast hazards) and the Lockout/Tagout/Grounding protocols for electrical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend and troubleshoot from equipment/facility schematics.
• Ability to work remotely and utilize technology to stay connected to colleagues in the Louisville, CO headquarters.
• Self-starter, very self-reliant and capable of operating with minimum direct supervision.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Well versed in the use of the Microsoft Office software suite.
• Willingness to travel regionally in a company provided service vehicle to support company’s solar and storage assets.
• Currently located in or willing to immediately move to the Rochester/Syracuse region.
