Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit an Electrical Building Services Engineer in either the NE/NW of England or Southern Scotland. The successful candidates will join long established multi-disciplinary teams and work alongside other engineers, surveyors and more senior professionals.

The workload will be varied and will cover both public & private sectors.  Our strong pipeline of work is based upon repeat basis combined with new wins, with our strength being the support of our Health, Education & Local Government clients.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead & develop detailed briefs in conjunction with the client and senior colleagues

  • Establish & maintain client relationships

  • Carry out site surveys (including compliance, condition & defect analysis)

  • Prepare reports (including remedial works, life cycle & cost data)

  • Review and comment on ‘As Built’ data

  • Carry out design and specification work and preparing tender information

  • Administering building contracts (JCT &/or NEC)

  • Undertake all aspects of professional surveying work (including Condition Surveys, Specific Defect Analysis, PW work, dilapidations, Access Audits & FRA’s)

  • Liaise with Clients, Contractors & other consultants (internal and external)

  • Assist senior team members with project finances, recruitment, and mentoring.

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree in Building Services, HND/HNC or equivalent

  • MIET, ACIBSE or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years’ post qualification experience of advising on commercial properties either in public or private sector

  • Ability to establish a good working relationship with Clients and colleagues

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision

  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines

  • Good AutoCAD and/or REVIT skills

  • Working knowledge of design tools such as Amtec, Relux or similar

  • Excellent understanding of current regulations, CIBSE guides and their implication for design/maintenance of buildings

  • Good written & verbal communication skills

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • Ability to demonstrate flexible approach to work and willingness to travel/stay away from home for short periods as may be required

  • Team player

  • IT literate
