Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of inter-continental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. As part of the Northrop Grumman GBSD nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration.

Position Summary
This position is for a Electrical Engineer who will prepare designs for Electrical systems associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. Full time telework is available for this position with required travel of up to 25% to work at the project site in Ogden, UT. Initial two-week business trip to Ogden, UT is required for onboarding at the project site. If candidate prefers to work full time at the project site in Ogden, relocation will be provided.
Responsibilities
This role will support design development of Electrical systems and equipment for the GBSD program project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, data sheets, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Work with Electrical engineers and other technical disciplines in a team environment.
Develop design drawings and other design documents
Perform system analysis and equipment sizing calculations
Prepare design and equipment specifications
Develop design configuration packages for configuration control and change management
Design Building Information Modeling and coordination with other disciplines
Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product
Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
Level 1: BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 1 year of relevant experience.
Level 2: BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 3 years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to design drawings, calculations, and specifications for Electrical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building Electrical systems.
US citizenship is required per contract requirement.
Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
Travel up to 25% of the time to customer and project locations to coordinate electrical designs with team.
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards,
Broad knowledge of the application of Electrical engineering design principles.
Knowledge of electrical systems, schematics and layouts.
Understanding of engineering drawings, systems calculations, equipment sizing and cable sizing.
Knowledge of power systems load modeling and analysis tools, such as ETAP.
Ability to execute work independently and greater than 1 year of Bechtel service for consideration of working at other than designated location.
Preferred Qualifications
Grade 23: MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
Grade 24: MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 1 year of relevant experience.
Active Secret Security Clearance.
Knowledge in use of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
Prior work experience in multi-project environment and demonstrated flexibility in work assignments.
Experience developing equipment configuration packages for procurement and maintenance.
Passed Engineering in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering Examination in USA (Electrical Engineering).
Hands-on experience using Revit MEP, including Architectural interface, drawing generation, view templates, design options, and phasing.
Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs ISO-9000.
Basic knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact.
Experience executing engineering design with Revit.
Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design.
