Join us in this role and you will support the development and delivery of Ofgem’s Electric Vehicle (EV) strategy, ensuring that we facilitate the deployment and integration of electric vehicles into a low carbon electricity system. You will be a key contact across Ofgem on EVs and their interface with regulatory policies, and be involved in our engagement with government and industry on EV policy.
Supporting strategic projects and regulatory changes will be another key responsibility. Working collaboratively to deliver a joint BEIS-Ofgem EV flexibility action plan, and supporting our engagement with the EV Energy Taskforce and wider industry groups, you will also keep up to speed with developments in the EV sector.
You will have strong communication skills, the ability to express complex issues clearly, precisely and succinctly both verbally and in writing. You should be skilled at analysing a variety of information quickly and effectively, and have the expertise to use this analysis to highlight relevant trends and draw policy conclusions.
Ready to build effective relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, you will be capable of representing the EV team at meetings. Experience and knowledge of the energy or climate change sector is essential, and as you may be called on to support high priority strategically important work, any project management skills and experience of developing strategy would be a bonus.

The post holder will support the development and delivery of Ofgem’s EV strategy, ensuring that the organisation supports the deployment and integration of electric vehicles into a low carbon, low-cost electricity system. They will deliver strategic projects that make a difference. The post holder will be a key contact across Ofgem on EVs and their interface with relevant regulatory policies. They will be involved in our engagement with wider government and industry on EV policy. The role entails engagement with policy teams across Ofgem and developing an understanding of Ofgem’s work.
The successful candidate will be a proactive individual, a strong communicator and demonstrably able to work together collaboratively and at pace. In addition, the successful candidate will have an understanding of the energy sector, or other relevant expertise
The postholder may be called on to support high priority strategically important work, outside of EVs in line with Ofgem’s flexible resourcing model.
• Supporting on strategic projects and regulatory changes that will make a difference to cost-effective EV deployment, as part of the EV team;
• Supporting delivery of key strategic EV related projects to address regulatory barriers to EV deployment;
• Working collaboratively across teams within Ofgem and Government departments to deliver a joint BEIS-Ofgem EV flexibility action plan
• Liaising with national and devolved governments to influence their work on EV policy that could impact energy consumers and the regulation of the electricity system
• Supporting our engagement with the EV Energy Taskforce and wider EV industry groups.
• Keeping abreast of new developments in the EV sector, and sharing this knowledge with broader teams
• To support the above areas by providing excellent qualitative and quantitative analysis, identifying and prioritising aspects, drawing on a range of sources, where required
• To support the above areas by communicating strategy and policy recommendations clearly: verbally, and in visual presentation formats.
• The Strategy and Decarbonisation directorate, and Ofgem, works flexibly on a project basis, you may be asked to pick up new strategic priorities as they arise.
