We are currently looking to hire a Safety Specialist to join the team and play a critical role in supporting the WHS function for our Sortation Centre. The successful candidate will be an experienced, innovative, hands-on and customer obsessed individual, passionate about Safety and able to identify, coordinate and drive improvements in Safety whilst engaging Operational and other Support Function stakeholders. The successful candidate will report directly to the SC UK Regional WHS Manager.
Responsibilities
· Assisting the WHS Manager to ensure delivery of Safety performance in line with personal, team and functional goals and objectives, facilitating and/or arranging training programs on critical SC WHS issues
· Supporting the implementation of WHS programs within SC Operations
· Supporting the SC with key risk assessment activities
· Supporting the business to ensure compliance to local and EU legislation
· Ensuring that WHS systems are kept accurate at all time with completed incident reports and all required supporting documentation, with metrics compiled on key data points to help the WHS Manager prepare/issue regular and ad hoc reports and metric documents
· Assisting the WHS Manager with the construction of incident prevention programs, contributing to SC requests to improve on site Safety and positively impact accident trends
· Preparing responses to insurers / solicitors in response to personal injury claims received
· Participating in the EU SC WHS Safety Audit program
· Coordinating and training of new Safety coordinator team members
· Proxy for the WHS Manager as required
· Arranging, facilitating and contributing to SC Safety Steering Committee meetings
· Arranging and conducting basic surveys and checks in the SC environment, SC processes, Safety supplies and on employee behaviours
· Any other reasonable request
· You’re qualified to NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ5 level or equivalent qualification, or you hold degree level qualifications in any subject and are willing to complete these or equivalent qualifications within an agreed timescale
· You’re able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of essential Environment, Health and Safety legislation
· Candidates with relevant experience, from backgrounds that may differ from Safety disciplines, will also be considered.
· You possess experience of Lean, 5S and Kaizen methodologies,
· Qualifications or experience of environmentally-conscious initiatives would be advantageous.
