Job Description
Primary Function
Ensure the Occupational Safety and Environment routines, planning and elaborating norms and procedures according to local legislation (Colômbia and Peru) and international standards of the company, aiming to reduce and eliminate accidents occurrences in the Andean Plants, as well as elaborating the strategic planning the area, managing investments and costs in the EHS Area and lead the implementation of Pillar SIGO Safety in Andean Region, and also implement EHS world-class strategies for Andean Plants.
Business:
- Elaborate EHS strategies to reduce the safety and environmental occurrences and become our work environment at our Facilities even safer, eliminating and mitigating risks in our operations.
- Manage the EHS routines, planning and elaborating norms and procedures according to the local legislation and international standards of the company, aiming to reduce and eliminate accidents occurrences in the Andean Plants, as well as elaborating the strategic planning in the area, managing investments and costs in the EHS Area and lead the implementation of Pillar SIGO Safety in Andean Region.
- Manage the environmental risk prevention programs (PPRA) aiming to act in a preventive way in relation to accidents, support Human Resources in the Professional Profile for Security Purposes (PPP) and Medical area in the Program for Medical Control and Occupational Health (PCMSO).
- Implement and standardize Process KPI´s, as well manage EHS Dashboards planning actions to correct variation in a preventive way.
- Support local teams in the national and international audits to demonstrate compliance with company rules, policies and current laws. Follow inspections from the Ministry of Labor and other regulatory agencies aiming to safeguard the company's interests (including authorizations and renewing operating licenses).
- Advising the Project Engineering area, in subjects related to Work Safety and Environment (since the design phase, implementation and startup) aiming to act in a preventive way in relation to accidents and minimize environmental impacts.
- Propose, conduct and coordinate training for Andean Plants according to demands.
- Define personal protective equipment (PPE) and collective protection equipment (CPE), according to necessities, to protect the safety and health of employees and to comply with the law. Consumption and costs must be managed as well.
- Manage the environmental management system and ensure the maintenance of the ISO 14000 Certification.
- Elaborate EHS strategies for Andean Plants to make improvements over current situation and assure sustainability after implementation (define strategies).
- Implement SIGO - Safety Pillar in all Andean Plants together regional team and, reviewing current practices and providing improvements during implementation and maturity process.
- Implement and standardize Process KPIs and best EHS operational practices.
- Manage and execute actions to achieve cost savings targets.
- Coordinate with EHS South America Group training, processes, tools and reporting activities.
- Have the strategic view without losing focus on the operating tasks.
Agility and Innovation:
- Provide benchmarking (internal and external), identifying the best EHS practices, aiming to implement in our Andean Plants, as well as managing changes in the behavioral actions from our employees.
- Maintain and continue to expand personal knowledge of EHSS methods and tools.
- Serve as a focal point for EHS improvement activities.
- Establish and drive a data driven culture of EHS throughout the organization.
- Assist in developing, maintaining and updating training materials and manage the training for all Andean Plants.
Relationships and People:
- Work collaboratively with leadership to identify initiatives and establish priorities based on corporate, regional and site business objectives.
- Manage, train and promote human talent development of his direct reports, through the identification of growth opportunities, potential leaders and succession plan.
- Promote positive relationships with team members, plants, support functions and functional groups (including corporate level).
- Lead Andean teams and key stakeholders by influence, generating results and engagement.
Knowledge & Technical Skills:
- Graduation in Engineering and post-graduation in Safety Engineer.
- Solid experience in EHSS area.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Demonstrate skills to be a change agent, learning, leading and sponsoring an oriented environment with an emphasis on continuous improvement (team and self).
- Strong project management, presentation and communication skills.
