Job Description
At Bed Bath & Beyond the Industrial Engineer uses data gathering, reporting and analysis techniques to support the ongoing and continuous improvement of our facilities. In additional this role will evaluate core Labor Management processes, times studies and elemental determinations within the facility and provide data analysis for new implementations to improve the internal and external customer experience.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluating core processes/ technologies and integrating them in a unique and creative way that helps solve a business problem and improve the customer and associate experience.ÂÂ
- Collaborates and conducts time studies and devises based on established standard work routines and measurable productivity expectations; communicate best practices with business leads and functional process improvement leads.
- Develop and maintain work standards and characteristics that promote efficient staff and facility utilization. Track and monitor effectiveness of management schedules/ employee schedules through metrics; recommend and implement changes as needed to ensure business objectives are met.
- Establish self as subject matter expert regarding all network process documents and labor management systems.
- Conduct ongoing reviews of quality and process health within building that supports key initiatives and labor management metrics.
- Support network standardization initiative by collaborating with peers regarding process improvement, labor management, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Make strategy recommendations that impact operations and process/systems engineering teams regarding key performance indicators and service level goals.
- Perform data analysis to establish site floor  metrics and solve complex problems; identify opportunities to optimize storage and processing capacity (picking locations, storage rack and material handling equipment).
- Partner with Site GM to identify facility design requirements based on activity levels, product profiles, flow, and transportation methods; assess time estimates to develop, purchase, document, implement, and install existing and new processes
- Support continuous improvement by actively adhering to lean principles, design of experiments (ex: Six Sigma)
Job Requirements:
- BS in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technical field; other technical degree with relevant IE experience.
- 2-4 years minimum exposure to warehousing and supply chain
- Ability to identify and evaluate multiple options and alternatives and effectively determine the appropriate action based on available information.
- Strong understanding of IE concepts and ability to apply them across the supply chain.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Manhattan Associates WM and LM; Advanced experience using MS suite, including Access, Excel, & PowerPoint
- Experience/Understanding of Lean Six Sigma processes with analytical tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, run charts, etc.
