The Role

As Product Area/Domain Architect in Asset Management Technology Architecture team, you blend deep investment management demonstrated ability with a passion for coaching, mentoring and developing highly performing teams. In an agile structure you will collaborate with partners and collaborators in the business to develop an architecture roadmap, influence the strategic decisions and build solutions. You will be applying business architecture techniques to develop product roadmaps and implementation strategies. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others with that knowledge. Asset Management’s technology environment is completely cloud-based, hence a deep understanding of Cloud Technology with AWS and/or Azure is a must.

As a senior architect for a product area or a domain, you will spend a portion of your time applying your expertise and experience across multiple product areas to optimize solutions and help product areas align with enterprise-wide strategies. Successful candidates would possess the following:

Strong technical foundation: including an undergraduate degree in computer science or a related field, ideally combined with advanced technical degree. Knowledge of the financial industry and portfolio management concepts is a plus.

Depth of knowledge in architecture and an ability to translate business objectives into technology solutions. Experience in a wide array of architecture patterns including architecting highly performant systems, event-driven architectures, APIs, data architecture and security architectures. Knowledge of cloud architecture patterns, and the cloud platforms, especially AWS is desired.

Strong development and process methodology subject area expertise. The successful candidate will lead the definition and adoption of architecture engagement models and SDLC standard methodologies, while promoting and communicating their value proposition.

Passionate about technology and its application to solve intricate problems in asset management.

Act as an advocate for architecture, internally and externally. Promote through consistent communication and strong listening and persuasion skills. Facilitate consensus across a diverse group of independent minded users. Lead the overall definition of the architecture competency, promote the engagement model and communicate the overall architecture value proposition and metrics.

Ability to partner with other leaders to:

influence strategic backlog and prioritization decisions related to your area of expertise

measure performance through established objectives and KPI’s to deliver agreed upon business, technology, and people results

align chapter members across squads and product areas to ensure the best utilization of talent while also building learning opportunities and learning day content to develop skills

set and apply standards and ensure the work performed is aligned with established road maps

remove impediments to delivering value

Actively sharing insights, knowledge, industry practices and developments across the organization

The role will be available in Boston, MA; Merrimack, NH; Smithfield, RI; or Raleigh, NC.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

15+ years of software development and product architecture experience.

Demonstrated architecture and personal leadership experience

Passionate about technology and delivering solutions for difficult and intricate problems. Current on functional and reactive programming, microservices

Experience with event driven architectures, caching, scale-out architectures, crafting systems for high efficiency, low latency, managing conflation, high availability and fault tolerance

Experience with sophisticated event processing, RESTful API design, distributed architecture patterns and highly transaction trading integrations is required.

Hands on experience in cloud technologies and practices, building architectures that demonstrate cloud-native services such as AWS EC2, S3, SNS/SQS, API Gateway, Lambda is desired

Well-grounded knowledge of engineering and continuous delivery practices.

Strong skills and demonstrated focus in logical and component architecture design and deployment.

Proven success in composing and completing long term product strategies

Expert knowledge and experience in Java, C#, Python, Kafka, Angular, related frameworks, various opensource stacks, and relational databases. Exposure to Scala, Go and Akka are a plus.

Experience with Azure, Microsoft Office 365 services and Salesforce SaaS is a plus.

Ensuring that Fidelity Investments is well positioned against its competitors and that the clients and shareholders are well served.

Advocacy for architecture, internally and externally. Evangelization of the architecture mission through consistent communication and strong listening and persuasion skills. Facilitation of consensus across a diverse group of independent minded colleagues. Leading the overall definition of the architecture competency, promoting the engagement model and communicating the overall architecture value proposition.

Mentor, coach and develop a world-class architecture team. Foster teamwork and a spirit of collaboration among team members both onshore and offshore as well as with business partners while conveying timeliness and responsiveness to meet business needs.
