We are seeking a Diversity Senior Advisor to support Cigna's enterprise diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy execution. This role will report to the Sr. Director, DEI and will lead and manage key DEI initiatives and programs that were developed to advance the DEI strategy.

The Diversity Senior Advisor will handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, managing concurrent projects and priorities. This individual must be detailed oriented and analytical, have strong project management and communication skills, and be comfortable presenting to all levels within the organization. They must also have demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information and act as a liaison between the DEI team and other key stakeholders, both internal and external. The ideal candidate will need to be a strong team player with the ability to engage and collaborate with HR team members across the organization with an end goal of flawless execution. They will have a passion for DEI and be able to clearly articulate Cigna's mission and how fulfilling our DEI promise enables achieving Cigna’s commercial purpose.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Diversity Leadership and Program Management

  • Acts as a DEI subject matter expert by contributing perspective, insights, and knowledge, and taking a balanced consultative and systemic approach to enable the organization to achieve measureable DEI results

  • Develop leading practice and innovative programs and initiatives that align with the Cigna DEI strategy and leading from concept through implementation

  • Design and launch initiatives focused on creating a diverse and inclusive culture that drives and supports the enterprise DEI strategy and employee engagement

  • Responsible for the creation, development and execution of enterprise-wide DEI programs to include, but not limited to the following:

    • Enterprise DEI Council

    • Global Diversity Awareness Month

    • Self-Identification Awareness Campaigns

    • External Annual DEI Surveys

    • iAM Mosaic

  • Supports the agenda development and preparation of topics and materials for the Enterprise DEI Council and supporting Committees, Enterprise Leadership Team and Board

  • Leverages data driven approach to identify, design and launch programs and initiatives focused on creating a diverse and inclusive culture that drive and support the enterprise DEI strategy and employee engagement

  • Drive DEI goal attainment of programs and initiatives through program management and defined project plans; Manages implementation activities, and develops processes, documentation and communications for program/process rollout and ongoing support

  • Contributes to the development of social issues responses and actions as aligned to Cigna values and our DEI strategy and commitment

  • Supports Building Equity & Equality Program and Community/Charitable Giving initiatives, as needed

  • Influence decision-making related to people practices and HR priorities through robust and compelling data and analysis

  • Provides support to the enterprise DEI executive council

  • Assess gaps and opportunities for advancing and improving DEI efforts, and propose solutions for addressing those gaps

  • Proactively identify risks/issues, providing suggested solutions for resolving risks/issues and overcoming hurdles to drive results

  • Focuses on providing thought leadership within DEI but may work on broader projects and initiatives which require understanding how DEI supports other areas of business, in addition to linkages to Civic Affairs, Building Equity & Equality Program and Cigna Foundation.

  • Measure, track, and analyze the effectiveness of DEI initiatives and predict future needs in our DEI efforts

Business Partnership

  • Cultivates strong and positive working relationships with key stakeholders across HR and the business

  • Partner with HR COEs and on cross-functional teams including Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, business leaders and other relevant internal and external partner groups to set and advance our DEI strategy, programs and initiatives

  • Develop inclusive talent practices in collaboration with HR COEs including talent acquisition, talent planning, talent readiness and leadership development, compensation

  • Partners with supplier diversity to support efforts as needed as aligned to the DEI and Building Equity & Equality Program strategy

  • Provides input to RFI and RFP responses for DEI related questions and proof points and provides market support as requested to support business development, finalist meeting or other presentations with clients, brokers, and prospective clients

  • Builds, cultivates and leverages relationships with community of external DEI practioners to strengthen the Cigna brand as a valued partner with clients and potential client

  • Partners with enterprise communications to develop communication and messaging for internal and external audiences in support of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives

Represents and Builds Diversity Capability

  • Performs research and data benchmarking to understand and leverage the competitive landscape, industry trends and insights in the DEI space to make recommendations and contribute to DEI initiative design and implementation

  • Provides subject matter expertise internally and externally

  • Acts as a trusted resource to educate employees and managers on how to recognize, accommodate, value and appreciate individual differences

  • Leads the annual update of DEI content for the annual Corporate Responsibility report and DEI Scorecard Report

  • Assists with the development of policies, programs and initiatives to attract, retain, develop and advance a diverse workforce for the organization

  • Creates and leads diversity training content development and facilitation including virtual delivery

  • Presents DEI content and represents the DEI team both internally and externally at diversity related functions

  • Builds and leverages DEI external community relationships to identify best practices and incorporate into execution of the DEI strategy

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree (preferred) in human resources, organizational development, change management, or relevant field

  • 8+ years of experience working in DEI and/or HR on DEI related initiatives

  • Management consultant and client-facing business development experience preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Proven progressive experience and demonstrated effectiveness designing, implementing and leading diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and programs

  • Proven track record of project management and ability to drive programs that support the enterprise diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy

  • Awareness of industry best practices and trends and legal requirements as it relates to diversity

  • Results oriented and resourceful mindset and quickly take control of responsibilities

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data to draw meaningful conclusions and develop recommendations

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage high-volume workload and complex priorities

  • Ability to research and create content that showcases core understanding of DEI principles

  • Action oriented, superior attention to detail, strong organizational skills

  • Ability to build relationships and influence change at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, multiple timelines and drive them to completion using project/program management tools

  • Ability to think intuitively, creatively, analytically, and strategically

  • Able to work collaboratively and proactively, while balancing a variety of priorities and workload

  • Adaptable to a fast paced continually changing business and work environment

  • Works both independently and as a collaborator across DEI team and other internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with internal and external business partners and employees.

  • Business focused– solid understanding of company's mission, vision and strategy to achieve long and short term goals

  • Strong strategic and analytical orientation with the ability to drive operational excellence and strong business performance

  • Comfortable with role of change agent and working in ambiguity

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

  • Ability to manage and lead direct reports and influence without direct reporting alignment

This role is WAH/Flex which allows most work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
