Position Summary:
Administers and manages short term disability, FMLA, military, personal, and related state leave (“Integrated Leaveâ€) programs within a specified region. Works in collaboration with Integrated Disability Management (“IDMâ€) team and all other partners internal and external to communicate employees leave status and facilitate transitional return to work for disability claims as well as transitional duty pay for all programs. Level II handles complex, long duration claims that require ongoing investigation, monitoring and follow up.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Ensure compliance with, and correct application of, applicable Companywide Integrated Absence program policies and procedures consistent with union contract requirements, federal and state regulations, and corporate policies
Determine claimant eligibility for all integrated leaves submitted across all US operations
Collect information and investigate requests for leaves
Determine if employee meets requirements for leave benefits
Meet all federal and state regulatory and company best practice guidelines for processing and managing claims
Communicate and correspond with all involved parties, including but not limited to, divisional HR and claimants throughout the integrated leave process
Create, monitor and manage ongoing leave eligibility for the time off and associated benefits
Help achieve equitable, cost efficient case resolution by optimizing company resources for most favorable outcomes, timely resolution of cases, and appropriate use of medical and investigation resources
Coordinate all case management activity for integrated leaves with internal and external providers
Maintain all databases for integrated leave claims
Manage the Transitional Duty program in collaboration with IDM team members (Workers compensation claim managers, Nurse Case managers) and HR, identifying employees who are able to safely return to the work through the program at both internal and external locations
Process payroll for all short-term disability claims and employees on transitional duty
Initiate LTD to eligible employees and provide third party carrier with the employer information when an application has been submitted.
Initiate ADA process as requested by Labor & Relations Department, including tracking ADA documentation and timelines for each employee engaged in ADA process
Monitors and reports illness, injury and disability trends
Annually train Business Unit and divisional HR regarding the integrated leave process
Pursue appropriate educational opportunities in order to maintain professional competence and understand changing regulatory requirements
Travel as necessary – 20-25%
