Position Overview

This role is responsible for supporting the specialty pharmacy strategy and operations across the BMS portfolio with focus on 9 currently marketed brands as well upcoming launch products.  The primary objective of this position is the development and support of compliant specialty pharmacy strategies and tactics to meet brand objectives. The individual should possess strong working knowledge of the US pharmaceutical distribution/dispensing channels inclusive of evolving healthcare marketplace trends.

This individual must possess strategic, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. These skills will enable the mobilization of a diverse, cross-functional, multi-layered matrix teams to accomplish priorities as well as recognize opportunities for innovation.  Within BMS, this person will be a part of Trade and will work closely and align with Brand Marketing, VAP Strategic Payer Marketing, VAP Field, Patient Access Support Services, Legal, Compliance, Contracting, Data Strategy, Finance, Data Management, Procurement, Medical/REMS as well as other key matrix partners.  This person will report to the Senior Director of Trade Sales, Strategy and Operations.

This position will 1 direct report and have regular interaction with the team of 4 specialty pharmacy account executives.   

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintains deep understanding of specialty pharmacy, specialty products and REMS programs

  • Partner with internal teams to build and deliver well-integrated specialty pharmacy support services.

  • Connect with Specialty Pharmacy Account Executives to ensure flawless execution of specialty pharmacy programs

  • Collaborate with contracting team to ensure flawless execution of MSA, SOW contracts to support specialty pharmacy programs

  • Collaborate with internal data teams to ensure appropriate development of SP Scorecards and usage of such tools.

  • Monitor effectiveness of programs/maintain account information/intelligence

  • Resolve business issues

Candidate Specifications:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant overall specialty/trade pharmaceutical industry experience including:

    • At least 3 years reimbursement – patient support/field reimbursement, payer, pharmacy, and people management experience OR

    • At least 3 years brand management, marketing, trade, contract management experience OR

    • At least 3 years specialty pharmacy operations and data

    • Highly effective communicator who represents and understands both manufacturer and customer perspective/priorities and can work effectively and efficiently to develop strategic plans and innovative solutions

  • Demonstrated:

    • Knowledge of SP role in the fulfillment of specialty medications/REMS programs

    • Understanding of market access and product fulfillment dynamics (payer, PBM, IDN, patient support services and field reimbursement) – the patient journey

    • Strong analytical skills/knowledge of SP data sources and use

    • Possess understanding of Order-To-Cash cycle

    • Intellectual curiosity, business acumen,

    • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

    • Ability to identify opportunities on his/her own initiative

    • Foster team effectiveness within matrix team by sharing knowledge, experience, and information

    • Ability to manage 10 to 15% travel.

    • Undergraduate degree required, MBA/PharmD degree preferred
