Our software engineers work in interdisciplinary squads each arranged around clear product goals with responsibility for delivery of their own product roadmaps. You’ll spend your time supporting and mentoring these engineers and partnering with product owners in product teams to provide technical leadership - as well as working with other Engineering Managers and motivating them to drive initiatives focused on improving our overall engineering practices.
This role is based in our Hub in London, United Kingdom.
• You will work with principal and lead engineers to provide technical leadership within product squads and support the timely delivery of technical solutions
• You will support and develop software engineers through regular coaching, mentoring sessions and providing continuous feedback
• You will support senior engineering management and the recruiting team to own the hiring, onboarding and retention of diverse and dedicated software engineers
• You will through your previous expertise help guide existing engineering managers towards success
• You will be an active contributor to the engineering leadership team and a role model for the LEGO Group ways of working and principles
• You have significant background leading teams delivering sophisticated, highly scalable cloud based platforms
• Lead the performance and development of impactful software engineers at senior and lead level
• Collaborate and support other members of the leadership teams including Engineering Managers and Lead Engineers
• You are excited about helping others reach their goals and becoming the best product-led engineers that they can be
• You are a passionate advocate for modern software engineering best practices including test-driven development and pair programming.
• You have a deep understanding of microservices and prior experience leading teams building critical APIs hosted in the public cloud. Experience working with serverless technologies and Amazon Web Services would be an advantage.
• You understand how to advocate for an engineering mindset in large organisations and you have a track record of inspiring others with initiatives that you have both designed and then implemented in the organisation.

Working closely with product managers, designers and software engineers, our Engineering Directors are a vital part of the Marketing & Channels Technology engineering team. We have implemented a modern front-end stack based around Node.js and React with a cloud native serverless back-end and we use this platform to design, build and operate LEGO.com, our in store technology and our omnichannel spine.
