• We are looking for a highly experienced Director QA to help develop our industry-leading products in line with best practices around quality to deliver a great user experience for our many customers worldwide. 
• Our optimization product is a key part of IFS’ Field Service Management offering, which has been named an industry leader for the past 6 years by Gartner, beating the likes of Microsoft, Oracle and SAP.
• QA Leaders have deep knowledge of industry standard quality assurance processes and methodologies and work with all aspects of quality assurance throughout the entire software development process. 
• The QA Leader plays a key role within the team, working alongside Program Management and Software Engineering Leaders to ensure that all aspects of testing, support, and test coverage are included in testing plans, as well as making sure that quality is considered early in the design process so that the product will be testable later.  
• As the QA Leader in the Automation group, you will be accountable for creating detailed and comprehensive test plans and test cases, as well as troubleshooting quality issues and modifying test procedures. 
• By monitoring external and internal test results, QA Leaders will ask the right questions to identify patterns where more testing is required. 
• They will identify a need for additional automated test cases and ensure that development time is set aside for this.
• A key part of this role will be understanding and managing the difficulties of testing complex, non-deterministic systems, where the same tests may yield different results on separate runs but still be correct. 
• As a QA Leader you will need to extend our current thinking and design an appropriate framework for testing solutions and models that utilize techniques such as machine learning, natural language processing and optimization.
• A QA Leader should also foster strong proactive relationships with stakeholders across IFS, including but not limited to colleagues in support. 
• QA Leaders will look to minimize the amount of R&D time their teams spend supporting the product and minimize escalations by delivering high quality, well documented software with a “right first time” approach and attitude. 
• There should be regular engagement with the Software Engineering Leaders to feedback areas of concern and take affirmative action to address problems as they arise.

Qualifications

• A University degree, or equivalent professional qualification, in computer science, software engineering or mathematics, along with 3+ years hands-on experience in a leadership role
• Extensive QA knowledge in the implementation of industry standard test strategies and frameworks into CI/CD and development practices.
• A strong understanding of the principles of automation testing and any limitations of automation on complex systems.
• Used to prioritizing and taking decisions.
• Used to presenting, leading and inspiring people, as well as working with a globally distributed team.
• An understanding of how to test complex, non-deterministic systems that use techniques such as machine learning and optimization, and the challenges such systems present.
• Ability to work with internal subject matter experts to resolve security, performance, and usability issues. 
• Knowledge of an object-oriented programming language is highly desirable (preferably .NET).
• An Interest in AI, particularly the application of AI to testing, would make you an excellent match.
