GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of Mercury’s Transportation Operations supporting Mercury’s US Manufacturing and US Sales and International Branch and Global Direct Distributor shipments.  Responsible for designing and maintaining transportation network to deliver “on-time” inbound materials and outbound finished goods and part & accessory shipments delivering superior customer service.  Identify Mercury’s long-term proactive Transportation strategy, negotiation of various transportation contracts, improving partnerships to improve Mercury’s ability to track and trace shipments.  Identifying, monitoring, and reporting out key Transportation metrics to improve and maintain the highest level of service, minimizing claims, at the most effective cost and leading of team of Transportation professionals.  This position reports to the VP of Global Distribution and Logistics Management and is based in Fond du Lac, WI.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of Mercury Domestic Transportation, International Transportation, and Export Shipping Teams, as they execute daily tasks to support both inbound materials as well as outbound finished goods and P&A shipments.
  • Interact with peers from Manufacturing, Purchasing, Trade & Compliance, Legal, and Finance to both execute daily requirements and develop Mercury Transportation strategies
  • Team is responsible for track and trace duties for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Mercury’s End of Quarter Compliance officer responsible that appropriate End of Month/End of Quarter shipment reporting is completed correctly and on time.
  • Representing Mercury on Brunswick Transportation Council.
  • Working with international peers to get global transportation requirements and maximize Mercury’s global volumes for the most cost effective solutions.
  • Expectation includes enacting continuous improvement and cost saving initiatives leading Transportation’s LSS program
  • Mentor and coach team members to create a winning, highly motivated team by providing SMART team goals and monitor team effectiveness.
  • Champion the Brunswick ethics and Health Safety & Environmental programs ensuring that employees clearly understand and adhere to the ethics code & HSE procedures, refreshing as necessary while demonstrating the required ethical behavior on a daily basis.
  • Communicate the business objectives, plans, budget, and performance to employees in order to maximize the individual/collective contributions and commitment to continuously improve the performance of the business.
  • Build a high performing team culture within the department that recognizes and rewards excellence and encourages individuals to strive for performance improvement
  • Direct annual business planning, expense, and budgeting processes. Monitor progress monthly and revise accordingly to support corporate financial and customer service requirements and guidelines.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:

  • Thorough understanding of U.S. Government regulations regarding imports, exports, and Foreign Trade Zones.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the company.
  • Extensive overseas shipment, both air and ocean, experience.
  • Experienced in carrier contract negotiations

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 10+ years of prior work related experience in a Materials, Distribution, Transportation or other Supply Chain capacity.
  • Previous managerial experience.  Ability to lead a diverse team.
