Advanced Systems Group (ASG) is a newly formed stand-alone division of Brunswick, the world’s largest recreational marine business.  We are seeking a Director of Quality to join our growing team.

The Director of Quality position is responsible for leading a multi-facility operation in the discipline of Quality Assurance. Designing, developing, and implementing various programs to reduce ppm defects, eliminate risk and continually improve are the cornerstones of this position. Assuring compliance to domestic and international regulations is imperative in our safety critical operations. 

This role will support the Brunswick Corporation’s Advanced Systems Group (ASG) and will demonstrate compliance to all domestic and international codes, regulations, and customer requirements as well as showing improvement with continually reducing PPM (Parts per Million) defects in the supply base, internally (scrap/rework), and the customer base. This role will be responsible for assuring supplier non-conformances are being addressed in a timely manner with corrective actions preventing reoccurrence of the problem and eliminating risk and development of business quality strategy and staff to successfully absorb future continued growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of Quality Leaders – responsible for hiring, training, staffing, developing, mentoring, succession planning and managing facility quality managers and divisional quality staff. Including High Voltage energy storage, power management, metallurgical, welding, compliance, product liability, and item creation teams. 
  • Lead and mentor the facility operations in reducing total PPM (parts per million) defects – Responsible for mentoring leaders and developing strategic plans to reduce supplier, internal (scrap/rework) and customer PPM defects. 
  • Continual Improvement of Quality Management System: Lead organization on a continual path of improvement by utilizing ASG and Brunswick Corporation programs along with developing future programs to assure continued success. 
  • Lead the team to reduce material defects, support trial process and work with facility staff on plant quality issues. Position requires interaction with purchasing and suppliers to qualify alternatives sources and reduce costs, lead engineering teams to reduce scrap/rework, eliminate risks and standardize practices across global network of facilities, lead compliance team in evaluating new and changing standards in the industry, lead product liability teams in investigating, evaluating and documenting accident investigations and support facilities, engineering, and business units regarding BOM creation, BOM changes, item set-up and compliance to customer requirements.
  • New product launches: Work with the Quality Leaders and other business leaders to assure successful launch of new products. Utilizing various APQP tools and the stage gate process for new products and engineering changes.
  • Acquisitions: Evaluate and report on potential acquisition risks and liabilities. Develop Quality Plans for new acquisitions to assure compliance to all customer and ASG standards.

  

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a Quality Management and Leadership roles, including management of quality managers, quality engineering and various other engineering disciplines.
  • Experience leading multi-facility operation domestically and internationally in the field of quality, including interaction with supply and customer bases. 
  • Experience developing and implementing various quality management systems throughout a multi facility global operation. i.e. Supplier program, Quality System, Quality software, continuous improvement, welding programs, or metallurgical programs, etc.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry dealing with a variety of federal, state, local and international regulations and standards.
  • Affiliation and participation in industry wide associates and committees is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in developing correct actions with suppliers, manufacturing operations and customers with regards to complex quality related issues.
  • APQP experience with launching new products and production lines.
  • Acquisition and divestiture experience with manufacturing operations and related quality systems. 
  • Experience with product liability incidents is preferred.

Business Travel Expectations

  • This position will require occasional day and/or overnight domestic and international travel by auto or airplane, 20% to 30% of the time.
