The Role

Do you want an opportunity to join a dynamic team and play a pivotal role in the evolution of our Artificial Intelligence (AI) Model Governance & Model Risk Management offerings?  Fidelity Workplace Investing (WI) is seeking a Director of Model Governance and Model Risk Management with experience in governance, risk management, data privacy, AI ethics, explainable AI, model reproducibility, and general project management for technical processes.

You will design, implement, and lead the model governance process for end-to-end model lifecycle, development, and effective oversight of model risk management from analytical and technology perspectives. You will coordinate with data science, technology, and business teams on design and implementation. You will partner with governance boards and collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and other technology professionals to provide reports for various levels of management. In addition, your responsibilities include:

Designing, establishing, and implementing a comprehensive 3rd party AI model governance structure & process for model lifecycle, including AI ethics and data oversight/privacy

Designing, establishing, and implementing a model risk management process, applying industry standards for data & system technologies and analytics methodologies

Providing mentorship & recommendations for ongoing development & refinement of model lifecycle quality monitoring, reporting frameworks & methodologies

Partnering with other related governance boards, and collaborating with and providing management reports

Partnering actively with data science and technology teams for designing and using model operations platform

Presenting to broader audience and senior management

Acquiring or developing innovative methodologies for model governance & model risk

The Skills and Expertise You Bring

MS/MA/MBA in analytics/data science, statistics, economics/econometrics, engineering, economics, quantitative / technology fields, or equivalent work experience in a professional environment

7+ years of experience in overall model governance, model risk management, data privacy, AI ethics, explainable AI, and model reproducibility

Experience in industry best practices of model risk management and AI fairness & explainability, including model validation, reproducibility, statistical & engineering process control, quality assurance, data shift, backtesting, and stress testing for banking or similar environment, and system & analytics applications such as model operations tools

Experience in overall model governance and data privacy as well as general project management for technical processes

Knowledge of quantitative fields highly preferred, e.g., Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, Statistical Analysis & Modeling, Statistical Quality Control, Prescriptive Analytics, Design of Experiment

Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

Ability to pick up new knowledge fast and enthusiastic about continuous learning and ongoing improvement through research and development

Solid verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with various levels of management cross functionally

Experience with being proactive and taking initiative and thinks creatively

Ability to drive projects to completion and insists on the highest level of quality

Solid working knowledge of banking model governance or model risk management

The Team

This dynamic model governance team within the Data Strategy, Governance & Analytics domain partners with data scientists, engineers, AI squads, and various governance boards to provide AI governance services, structure, and model risk management processes for all AI models within WI. The models support WI businesses and customers and enables employers to lead successful employee benefits programs and improve employees’ overall well-being by offering a broad range of integrated financial, health, and benefits solutions.
