About us
Putting people at the heart of how we work starts with this, we treat every journey like it matters. We have a proud history of keeping London moving and now it’s our job to move London forward. All around us, things are changing faster than ever. Technology is evolving at breakneck speed. When and how customers use our network is shifting. The climate emergency is accelerating and the work of our engineers and asset strategists is crucial to making the Mayor’s Transport Strategy a reality. Our people use their ingenuity, skills, drive, and dynamism to deliver world-leading, cost-effective solutions for London by working in a cohesive, efficient, and innovative way - because of everything we do – we can do more to improve people’s lives and help our city navigate the future than almost any transport body in the world.
Starting with this recovery and far into the future, London’s success depends on us continuously improving and innovating to make moving around our city more safe, inclusive and sustainable.
If we don’t, London and the UK move backwards, and TfL Engineering is key in this journey.
TfL Engineering & Asset Strategy is a matrixed organisation made up of circa 1,500 people, accountable for engineering outcomes, the technical side of the 25-year asset plan and standardising our pan-TfL asset strategy approach. We combine a whole-life asset view with technical engineering skills to define long-term custodianship of our assets.

Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of large scale and technically complex projects, commercial issues, safety compliance, legal aspects, financial control and procurement processes.
Reporting into the Managing Director for London Underground, you will be responsible for setting the overall asset strategy, technical engineering functional strategy and directing technical decision making across the TfL portfolio of systems, projects and construction engineering.
We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We want to represent the city we serve, which will help us become a more innovative and efficient organisation.
