The Role

The Director of Engineering – Data Acquisition & Feature Engineering role brings skilled expertise as an Engineering leader with vision and partner to align product management teams, providing engineering leadership, fostering a vibrant community of growth, development, and continuous improvement across skills. This multidimensional role is crucial to the development of customer-centric solutions founded on dynamic engineering principles and subject areas. We seek a credible Engineering Leader to join the Data Science Platform Engineering organization and this Engineering Leader will lead the engineering team aligned to deliver the solutions used by Data Scientist teams.

The Skills and Expertise You Bring

  • Has Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technology related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, etc.).
  • 15+ years of work experience in large-scale, sophisticated systems development initiatives focused on Data, Analytics, Machine Learning, and similar areas with hands-on, managerial experience
  • 2+ years of experience in building data pipelines, Data wrangling experience with structured, semi-structure and unstructured data for Feature Engineering and ML Models.
  • Experience building highly scalable analytical applications using Messaging/Streaming Technologies (AWS SQS, SNS, Kinesis/Kafka), Relational and NoSQL database (AWS RDS, DynamoDB, EKS, Graph database), RESTful APIs, in-memory and ETL/ELT technologies.
  • Keen understanding of event-driven, microservices architecture, modern software integration patterns and software engineering principles.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of multiple subject areas and experience with multiple BUs, functions, products, and/or processes is required.
  • Proven track record, inspiring the creativity and innovation of your teams, creating a culture of inclusion, experimentation, exploration, and continuous learning.
  • Ability to attract, hire, build and retain a pool of diverse, passionate chapter members with the skills needed to implement today and in the future.
  • Ability to optimally connect with, negotiate and influence all levels of the organization and motivate change for favorable outcomes even at the most senior level.
